With retribution finally here a cold and icy chaos is falling upon New Eden. Botters and AFK mission runners are no longer able to make Risk Free Isk from level 4s and other similar encounters. Retribution is forcing people to actually PLAY eve instead of leaving to make some food while some task is accomplished for them.


This is only the beginning!

Personally, I'm glad you have to actually play the game. But expect the next argument against AFK cloaking to be "But I have to sit at my screen to run missions!!!one elventy-one one !!!!111!!!"

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

I'm glad people have to play now too, this anti-bot stuff is nice. I am curious what people will say about AFK cloakers, probably something along the lines of what you said. Its a funny tactic, I also like the less subtle ones where they aren't cloaked, just come as deep into enemy territory as possible, and dock. Hilarity.

I don't think this change is against bot miners, just bot missioners. I also think its CCP's way of making missioners have to take fleets for missions, not solo them all by themselves.

I get that this is an MMO, but one should be able to solo missions if properly equipped. Not everyone is as cool as us and has lots of friends to run missions with at their beck & call :P

I don't think this change is against bot miners, just bot missioners. I also think its CCP's way of making missioners have to take fleets for missions, not solo them all by themselves.

They didnt change the damage just the agro i still run lvl4s in my pally with no real change to how i ran them before.

Not only that i stil have a legion that i use when i know i am up against a lot of frigs/cruisers. Only time it is faster than my pally.

You said it yourself, MMO, massive MULTIPLAYER online... Level 4's make so much isk, its insane. By having you split that wealth with your friends/ALT's, whatever, it now serves its purpose. Also, these are the harder set of missions, and should need friends to complete. Working as intended, if you ask me. I just wish the AFK'ers would get this through their skulls, however the only time they speak up is when things DON'T go their way... I'm enjoying all this on the Forums, quite entertaining while I numbly sit at school, writing assignments.

I agree afterall drones are CCPs minature bots. Why not remove drones completely they are now worthless wouldnt you agree?

If you can't find a handful of friends to mission with you can always make an alt.

atm from what I've seen "Properly equpiped" means tengu.


no, really, with the new AI and the fact that whole rooms aggro you, the best platform to run lvl4's is the tengu. Battleships are too big and, altho doable with them, you'll end up running out of drones and either sit there trying to pot-shot frigates with large turrets, or shooting them with CM/torps, because they just simply murder drones.


now, is this a bad thing? no, the tengu needed a boost with the nerf it got. But yes however, because anything droneboat is nigh on useless for doing lvl4's.

You can solo Level 3's. Quite easily.

So you think retribution makes software that does everything you can stop working?

No. It just means that software gets updated.


You should keep in mind that botting software exists because someone is most likely smarter than you, before you post about no more botting.

But that's running them in a Marauder, which requires a lot of training and isk. Most of the tears about this change is the AFK cheap-*** carebears that drop their tank in the room, launch aggressive drones, and go eat/nap/whatever while their drones clear the room for them. Now, their drones get aggro'ed and they have to *gasp* pay attention to the game and can't do this for hours at a time with no input.

Only thing about lvl4s that was changed was that they are harder to afk in.

The ability to solo them was not changed.

The change doesn't do anything to mission runners, unless they're in drone boats.
AFK drone boats will see no change, as they're already repping their drones, and omnitanked beyond anything a level 4 will dish out.

But don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I am absolutely 613% positive that level 4's can still be solo'd. It is just a matter of time before someone figures it out.

I will admit, I don't do level 4's anymore, but I live in Null, so I do sites usually. I haven't had a chance to test the new AI yet, but from what I've heard here on the forums and from a few Alliance mates, the AI tends to target and kill drones very quickly, and people are losing a lot of drones. Most people do these in Battleships, and rely on drones to kill the little frigs and whatnot, and if the drones go, then they can't hope to kill them with large weaponry. That is what I've gotten out of this whole argument.
