In space, sound is louder because there is no air that gets in the way.

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Been around since RMR, this is the first time I've had to play EvE with the game client's volume turned all the way down.

Not a good patch.

In-game sounds muted since Retribution, F10 Jumper since Odyssey

Run a mission just now!!
The more I hear about that unpleasant explosion sound ,the less I like the game,CCP my only interest in this game to be a mission runner was killing by the new ship explosion sound n visual effect!!!

To me on my computer the explosions sound like a big door slamming, not a explosion. Also, why is the explosion sound played when a wreck salvages through?

While I am VERY happy with the expansion all around, I hate to say that the sounds are not so impressive. They definitely do not live up to the visual and gameplay standards.

Warp initiation is strange and a bit too delayed
NPC ship explosions sound like a jet-can popping.

The music is great and they took my idea from a few years back of tying it into a dynamic system based on location so that makes my ePeen feel bigger. Lol

But overall the sound and effects still need a lot of help. It needs JUST as much attention as everything else. I am not sure if is underestimated or undervalued, but take of the the BEST movies and sci-fi shows around, they pay just as must attention to getting the best sound as they do the best lighting and effects.

Maybe it's a bug that same sound effects occured for wreck salvages, but I dont think explosion sound is a bug. it's a rough work will made EVE seems like the product of a small PC game company!

I like it but it doesn't matter how much I like the sound as long as it will get my attention. For me it means I need to switch from movie watching or being on another client in order to make sure everything is in order and promptly go back to what I was doing.

Hmmm time for a little belt ratting...
Aggro a rat MEEEEP
Rat pops MEEEEP
Aggro a rat MEEEEP
Rat pops MEEEEP
Aggro a rat MEEEEP
Rat pops MEEEEP
Aggro a rat MEEEEP
Rat pops MEEEEP

Maybe do an anom? NOPE.
Explosion identical for all rats and sounds like a door slamming in an underground carpark.

Awful.

I had to turn off sound fairly quickly because of the million warning beeps I get during pvp. Killed about 8 ships today, looked for explosions, didn't really see any. Left disappointed.

Think scale here ccp... These are multiple hundred meter long ships exploding... They should not be an annoying "pop" sound with a little puff of white smoke, there should be a rather significant flash followed by a bass heavy thud. Larger ships such as bcs and BS should also not explode all at once, they should break apart spewing debris just before a large blast. What you've introduced caters to the exact opposite of the scale of these ships. These new explosions make ships seem even smaller and even more "toy like" than before.

All in all I give these new explosion effects (sound and visual) an amazing 2 out of 10.

Fortunately, only a minority of cynical players are actually complaining about Retribution, while the rest are in the game enjoying it, so this rating probably means very little to CCP.

CCP have made a mess of the new sound effects.
Pulse lasers sound like a wet fart.
Stupid bells and whistles, took me back 20 years as I watched my daughters play on the saga mega drive on a xmas morning.
I don't get it, are you trying to cater for the kids market as well with eveUgh
Prehaps time used on more pressing items would have been better spent.
Can't say it is the best update ever done in eve by a mile.

The new explosions are pants!

Imagine my surpise last night when the Sansha battleship I killed didn't blow up, instead it just turned into a green blob and vanished. Bring the old explosions back.

Protect me from knowing what I don't need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don't know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Amen.

I havent really noticed any annoyance with the new explosion sound and animation as i havent zoomed in yet while killing but i will check again once i get online again and add my feedback.

My launchers seem to have a preliminary sound effect before firing to a new target though, anyone get this aswell? (could be just connected to targetting but sounds like a ready to fire sound)

Because of you just came back to EVE and had no experience of the previous version, you are absolutely enjoying the new missile effects but hadnt noticed the difference of the latest two versions!

Yeah, the most excited n happy thing is watching the opponents' ships blow up at the final of the fight, but now with poor of its effects, thats rather disapponited.
