I'm biting the bullet, finally going to just go out and pvp. I want to solo right now. In any game where there is pvp of any kind, I try and specialize going solo, picking my fights when I can. So I can fly up to t2 Caldari/Minnie frigs-cruisers all t2 gear. But, obviously starting out, I'm just going in t1 everything.

With all the changes that came in today, which frigs should I start with? What basic fitting should I use? Noob questions I know, but I've been mining almost exclusively this past year so combat of any kind is going to be almost new to me.

Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions and flames if they come in. I just need to get out of mining/missioning in High sec.

I don't think anyone knows the answer yet.

Give it a few days until people are used to the changes.

I have to re-fit and re-rig so many ships now.

Fit a Rifter with T1 but preferably T2 gear. Go out and roam.....roam some more and then roam even more. You will need to choose your targets wisely. Just go out and have some fun.

Yeah, thats the plan. Over a year ago I missioned alot, but since I've been mining this past year, I'm disconnected from combat completely. If I do google search for rifter pvp fit, will that be enough to get me started? I'm only asking because most fits I find are old.

Stick with battleclinic to get ideas for ship loadouts and what you can do with them, read all the comments as you normally get other players giving some decent input on alternatives etc.

Tweak them in EveHQ for something that will go with your own skills and style.

What these fittings have in common is that they are inexpensive and a little gimmicky. The last part is important as it allows you to engage a really wide range of enemies (almost all t1 and faction frigates and some t2 frigates, cruisers & bcs).

In the Slasher primary hostile drones and don't get scared if you take massive damage at the beginning of the fight. In the Griffin swap ECM before fighting if you have a station to dock at - if can't do that then you are usually fine as long as you have one "correct" racial jammer (however, against drone boats you very much want 2 correct jammers as one missed jam will kill you).
I forgot to train t2 rockets before the patch, there's no good reason to use t1 launchers.

Rifter is obsolete. There are much better ships in all categories.

Try out different styles and ships, choose which ones you like the most.

Best frigates currently are Merlin, Incursus, Slasher, Atron, Executioner.

Solo pvp in Eve? I have seen it done successfully, against me anyway. I would have to second going out in gangs. I would say try factional warfare, but people in your own militia will kill you.

The thing is, I believe solo pvp is possible. Possible but you have to have a lot of skillpoints and knowledge. Been doing pvp almost two months now and I know about 8-10% of what I need to know now.

Don't bullshit about stuff you don't understand. Solo PVP is perfectly viable in FW.

You could always fly the cheapfit thrasher. It's around 3,5m isk total and it can kill most frigates.
It's probably one of the easiest ships ingame.
Start cheap, otherwise your wallet will be gone by the time you can fly properly.

Good Sir;

Roaming around is a bore.

Do the following:

Join Faction Warfare as a Minmatar.
Outfit a Merlin. You can go completely T1 for under 1mil. Outfit it diffferently every time.
Don't be ashamed to use warp stabalizers in most of your fits. You need to learn all the angles.
Go to Seisede (sp? the spot near Dal).
Go to the Novice complex.
use your scanner set at 360 1,000,000 km (this tells you who is on each side of the gate).
Jump in and either fight, flight or sit--depending.

you will get a battle every 10 minutes, most you will lose.
(Aside from off grid loki buffing) most the battles will be 1v1 or 1v2. You can't get into the complex with anything fancy like a wolf.
It is no where near as dull as wandering around. You can read while you earn LP waiting for the next one to come along.

You can get inside with Daredevil or Dramiel.

Other than that, that's pretty good advice.
