I think CCP know that meny of EvE players probably mute in game music, and move to other sites where full EvE sound track, but what the point of this? its not a evolution ... I like new sound idea it self but come on, make normal juke box optional, again what the point of lystening music in background in other www while EvE juke box may be inside game.

EvE isn't game, its style of living.

Put it on your mp3 player/play from your desktop,
Devs want to free up space on the client, its all good, why make a fuss over nothing??

Free space in client? client got old music data base so here no saved space or empty folder... music isn't directly streamed form serwer to your client... look at folder Res-audio almost 700mb.

Come on we living in modern times... why somone need force me to use other www or programs like mp3 player to lysten music form game but form other source.

„If thy jukebox offends thee, hack it off“

For this to work, we will be removing the current jukebox, which allows you to re-order your playlist and import mp3 files to play. To put things in perspective, the jukebox was put into the game early in development back in 2001 when mp3 players were considered very hip and all the cool kids had a slickly custom-skinned Winamp installed to play the latest Nickelback songs downloaded from Napster or hax0r ftp sites. Those days are gone, all proper PCs have media players as part of their base OS install, and the trend is moving towards listening to streaming music on the internet rather than locally stored mp3 files. Plus Nickelback have less of a mainstream following.

Maintaining an mp3 player inside EVE, while there are much better media players out there doesn‘t make much sense to us. Keep in mind that all code in EVE needs to be maintained. UIs are upgraded, codecs need upgrading, code is refactored, defects need to be resolved. By removing redundant pieces of code from our codebase, we free up engineering time to maintain, iterate and develop other features which are more important and core to the spaceship game EVE. As we move forward with EVE development, iterating and adding features, we have to be ready to cut off dead branches and prune our garden so to speak.

By placing the music on Soundcloud, we are providing those that still want to customize their own playlists with the existing EVE soundtrack the ability to do so. We opted for that route rather than maintaining two systems, both the new system and the jukebox, as that is an extra development effort, again, taking away resources from more important things. Like always, your feedback is important to us. Let us know if you agree or disagree with this move. Remember though, by removing extraneous functionality, we have more time to work on other things.

I think that sounds fair enough Smile

Well ok, i give up, back to stone age, anoter revolution after awesome UI evolution.
This whole thing are similar to windows 8 where people need to learn how to crate new profile, and read big guides...

I think software development got hard times, all is discovered, and developer make easy things harder, but is ok i can adapt to this, its natural proces these days.

Im not programmer, or designer, im ordinary gamer who play games, just thinking by logic easy way like other, why fixing somthing while things work proper?

EvE isn't game, its style of living.

Fair enough indeed.

But at least I want to be able to turn on the awesome login screen music without turning on all of the music in the game :)

Okay, even if soud is or will be played from soundcloud, there should be still an option ingame to change and edit playlist. No matter if that music is in client or on the server.

My question is why they want you to stream music from another server? It seems like there are better uses of bandwidth than in game music.

Please stop trying to be all edgy and hardcore bittervet sounding. Soundcloud DOES NOT WORK with the partially-neutered in-game browser. This causes one to need another app running in the background in order to hear the classic Eve tracks. Having multiple apps running in the background while also trying to run the Eve client is asking for performance problems or instability and, therefore, not a good idea.

Maybe it's very 2001 to Torrfi but, I support keeping the jukebox.

You'd put this different, if you had to play using my internet connection.

Go on EVE files and download the soundtrack, use winamp.

Jukebox is dead. Getover it. Buy a keyboard with multimedia controls and have a player open in the background if it means so much to you.
