Is it only me that's bothered the new roles have been applied the 'wrong' way round?

All the old mining frigates are now support ships, bar the Amarr one.

All the old second-class combat ships are now upgraded to frontline fighting ships, bar the Amarr one.

I thought CCP were trying to get away from these silly exceptions to consistency, (missing Amarr fourth frigate etc), what's the logic about doing this one backwards for Amarr?

I'm not entirely sure why the inquisitor didn't keep it's missiles either, as we've now got a missile-capable destroyer, with no frigate lead-in.

I think the creepy Tormentor grin is more appropriate for scaring people in PvP. More seriously, I don't know why the Tormentor/Inquisitor role "swap" happened.

Also, calling the Dragoon a missile ship is like calling the Arbitrator or Curse: it's not. Those high slots are meant to be filled with energy neutralizers/vampires, and maybe a turret/missile launcher or two. Note that there are no T1 Amarr cruisers, battlecruisers or battleships which specialize in missiles.

The Amarr missile-boat line are the T2 Khanid Innovations ships: Malediction, Vengeance, Sacrilege, Damnation.

While also initially confused by this I just learned to accept it once they announced that the inquisitor was going to be the stand in.

Now I'm just looking forward to the "Power Prawn Pack", a fleet consisting of nothing but these two ships swarming an orca xD

Shrimp just took down a whale, **** yeah.

Gotta admit, I'd never seen the front of the tormie that way, and I like it a lot.

I did say missile-capable, I'm aware the new destroyer is not supposed to be a missile ship, but it still has missile hardpoints, which I don't think any of the T1 frigs now have? We used to have the inquisitor at least.

That aside, it just irks me that it's the opposite way round to all the other races. If I'm gonna be stuck respecting the tormie, can we at least have an extra thruster on the bottom of the prawn like the inquisitor? The thing would quite clearly just tomahawk through space as it is...

The reason it was swapped was that Support Ships were never supposed to be a thing. The Navatas was Drones, the Bantam was Rails and the Breacher Burst Artillery. The Inquisitor was supposed to keep its Missile designation. Remember the Tormentor was test case ship that came along with the new Rifter, Punisher, Incursus and Merlin, to see if the former Mining Frigates were viable rebalanced in a combat role.

CCP decided Frigate Logistics were not doable and wanted three combat classes but then changed their mind and created Support Frigates out of the Mining ones. The Tormentor was already a combat ship, people owned them, fit them and rigged them for combat.

So instead of ruining all those fits and rigs they decided that the five or so people that used the pre-rebalanced Inquisitors could take a walk and rebalanced it as the Logistics Frigate instead of the combat Tormentor.

They're totally changing the roles of the ships anyway, I don't think legacy rigs are a rational concern at this point. Plus, they're frigates, the rigs are hardly expensive.

More of a concern then making sure the former Mining Frig Model now a year old Combat Ship is used as a support ship instead of the Inquisitor which was not used at all.

Legacy Rigs are a more rational concern then an Inquisitor that would have just received the stats of the Tormentor anyway.

Quick note, it was the Burst that was to be a arty boat, the Breacher is still a missile boat.

Do agree that the models are fine, am surprised that this got brought up again.

Don't know why I got those 2 mixed up...
