My Biggest Pet Peeve About EVE

My mining alt finishes Astrogeology III today, 2 hours into my workday, but I can't start training Mining Barges until I get home (8 hours later), so I had to stuff him with Electronics IV training for 8 hours instead until I can get home.

I'm pretty blessed that that's the biggest thing I hate about the game I suppose, that I can't inject skillbooks until the previous skills are trained (should just let us inject skillbooks but be unable to train them without requirements in the queue).

Maybe I should just install EVE on my work computer..

You can't put a skill in queue without the previous requirement being completely finished.

Mining Barges I requires Astrogeology III

Therefor I can't queue Barges right after Astrogeology, I have to have it completely finished beforehand. Meaning if I have to do anything (sleep, work, go outside) for an extended period, there's a huge gap where my skill queue has to train "fluff".

We can make it a game, see how long before IT finds it installed!

I actually considered just bringing a netbook into work and using Teamviewer to run EVE from here.

Teamviwer makes the game too laggy to play properly, but good enough to change skills.

Oh well I could just install on a netbook, the connection would be crappy but I don't need a good connection to mine >=D

You sir are a genius.

Although I'm wondering how HIPAA compliant it is for me to run EVE on a work computer dedicated to medical records..

I *AM* IT where I work... :) It's installed on any machine I use for more than 15 minutes at a stretch. Cool

Sadly our work computers are all cruddy Dells..

I'd have to bring a netbook, and that's much harder to hide from wandering doctors =/

Give a thought to all the vets of the game when the skill training Queue didn't exist.

When people woke up in the middle of the night just to change skill, otherwise it would just stop training.

I can understand that, but "back in my day we didn't 'x', so we shouldn't 'y'" isn't really a reason to avoid such topics ;)

Having to wake up in the middle of the night to do stuff reminds me too much of alarm clock raids on other MMO's.. I'm glad I don't do those anymore.

Depends on your organization's HIPAA controls more than HIPAA itself, per se (unless you're pushing PHI over the EVE client).

Fix POSes.  Every player should want one (even if all players can't have one).

Indeed, the obvious solution is to become the IT of your organization.

Alternatively, A partner (Girlfriend/wife) sidekick to change your skills for you.

Like others have stated team viewer is a valid tactic where solely changing skills is concerned.

Depending on the Group policy of your computer/firewall settings a USB stick client could momentarily fix your problem.

Although the "most beneficial" would be to convert your IT into eve players, it likely wouldn't be to hard.

Eh that one is quite difficult.. our IT department is the polar opposite of gamers. They're Apple nerds.
