Hey Guys, the Eve Online Chronicles ended a while ago and i really enjoyed them. I am about to start writing Eve Fiction at least a big story once a month. I will do my best to make my writing of high standards as well as keep in line with the Eve fiction lore. So far i have written one story, which will be part of a series of stories which explorer the Matari and in particular the events around the great rebellion. In this series i will keep to the Eve official lore as best as possible.

But ultimately what matters in Eve is you guys the players, so some stories which i will write about will be open ended and you the players get to decided what happens to the characters, or how events transpire.

I have already mentioned that i have written a story already, i did it for the competition and wrote it in under two hours because i didn't realize Eve was having a fan fiction competition till it was less than 24 hours till the deadline.

Really sorry guys i wanted to post this in the eve fiction, i have only been here twice since it came up. Is there a way to get the devs to move it to the fiction forums?

My first Eve fiction story, which i first posted on my blog http://letterblender.wordpress.com/

Date: YC 113.11.13
Heimatar Region – Ortner Constellation
Rens Solar System – Planet VII: Gas Giant, Moon VII
Sovereignty of the Minmatar Republic

A Gallente Tristan named the “Fatman” jumps out of warp decelerating from a speed of six AU to just zero in just over three seconds, such rapid deceleration can have terrible and uncomfortable side effects on individuals whose bodies are not accustomed to space travel. The Frigate is fitted with a pod which would allow Capsuleer’s to operate the vessel using only their minds, even though there is a Capsuleer onboard, this frigate is not been flown using pod technology, instead the three individuals currently on aboard are operating the “Fatman” in the way ships were flown before the Jovians gave Ishukone Corporation and the rest of New Eden pod technology in the year AD 23224, this ship is been operated from the Bridge. The advent of pod technology and its subsequent widespread use was to a lot of space ships designers heralded as the death of needing a bridge on a ship, the human responses time it took to operate the ship from the bridge were so slow in comparison to pod operated vessels that over time ship manufactures shifted away from designing the ship bridges as a grandiose floors of central power and command to small unremarkable rooms crammed with operating consoles.

Such rooms were normally sealed off in ships operated by a Capsuleer and would only came in use in the most exceptional of circumstances, which would include events such as a Capsuleer ejecting his/her Pod from his/her ship in an attempt to save his/her own expensive head implants in combat, the people onboard the ship who did not have the implants to fly the ships as pod pilots [Baseliners] would be then have to remove the seals of the Bridge and attempt to operate the vessel manually and either engage the attacking ship, or disengage from combat and escape. Very few ships which faced such circumstances survived such encounters, their shields and armour would be pulverised by slugs of superheated plasma, missiles or drones, their hulls would then be breached and the internal structures ripped to pieces and its passengers would suffer an undignified end to their lives. The lucky ones would be ejected into space and die of suffocation and internal organ ruptures, but they could at least hope that the Sisters of Eve would find their corpse, identify them and return to their loved ones to be buried in a respectful manner.

The “Fatman” was not engaged in any combat situation, it was in a high sec system of Rens were aggression is discouraged and any unwarranted attack would be meat with a swift and brutal re-establishment of order by Concord, the peacekeepers of New Eden.

Onboard the vessel is Zante Mandel a 25 year old hot headed Matari Capsuleer of mixed Gallente and Matari Brutor heritage made a Capsuleer by the Republic Military School, with him is old Matari Shaman of Brutor descent who went by the name of Blindwolf whose wrinkled face showed a man whose lifespan has spanned multiple decades, he uses a walking stick and his worn out dark grey eyes betray the sorrow in his soul. The third man with them is Victor Marble a middle aged University Lecturer based in Fricoure solar system, Gallente space, he is of Amarrian descent but a citizen of the Federation and has lived in the Gallente Federation all his life.
“We are here, we have arrived at the destination you requested old man” Zante tells Blindwolf as he walks away from the navigation console towards the scanning console.
“Yes, this is it, thank you young man” Blindwolf replies in a deep husky voice.
“What are we looking for, there is nothing here but a massive gas giant which is similar to size and composition as hundreds of other gas giants in New Eden and seven moons” says Zante.
“Its the planet which interests me, we are in the right place” replies Blindwolf as Zante launchers five survey probes.
“ What do you want me to do with these?”. asks Zante.
“Scan the moon” replies Victor. Zante didn’t take kindly to the Amarrian, he has never taken kindly to any Amarrian.
“I was never trained to throw probes around dead beat rocks” Zante replies.
“Move aside”. says Blindwolf, he walks to the navigation panel and begins to scan the seventh moon orbiting the gas giant.
“Since when were you able to operate spaceship consoles, Gallente ones to be precise” Zante asks Blindwolf with a quizzical look on his face.
“Is an old man not supposed to be able to operate a simple computer? asks Blindwolf.
“You are a tribal Shaman, people like yourself normally travel from city to city town to town mixing up drug portions and reading people’s tattoos you are not supposed to be able to operate spaceship consoles” replies Zante.

“And you are ignorant with your assumptions” says Victor. Biting his lip Zante turns to Victor.
“Ignorance? that is very rich coming from a slaver” says Zante, his voice slightly raised.
“I am not a slaver, nor am i your enemy friend” says Victor, his voice soft spoken.
“Don’t refer to me as a friend, its an insult to my ancestors and everything they fought for” replies Zante.
“Your words are hollow and without meaning, he is not your enemy, i invited him to come with me on this trip, so i suggest you treat him with a bit of courtesy for as long as we are on this little expedition ” says Blindwolf, addressing Zante. Zante scoffs.
“I will go down to the engineering room and check on the fusion reactor, i got a spike in heat generation, the temperature measurement went off of the scale for a few seconds before stabilizing again as soon as we jumped out of warp within the vicinity of moon VII ” Zante walks towards the Bridge’s doors they slide open exits into a narrow dim lighted corridor, on of many on this vessel. Leaving only Blindwolf and Victor on the ship’s Bridge.

“I apologise for his unreasonable behaviour towards you” says Blindwolf.
“No need for it friend, i understand where his feelings towards me stem from” says Victor.
“There is no need for any understanding” replies Blindwolf.
“Where you not the same in your youth?” asks Victor. Blindwolf does not reply, he continues operating the scanner searching for what he came looking for.

A few minutes later the Bridge’s doors slide open and Zante walks in returning from the engine room.
“What did you find?” asks Victor.
“Nothing, it was strange, the readings are normal the fusion reactor’s temperature is stable” replies Zante.

“I have found what i was looking for, i am sending the coordinates to the navigation console Zante, take as there” says Blindwolf.
“What have you found?” asks Zante.
“Just head for the console and take us to the coordinates i have relayed to that console” replies Blindwolf. Zante walks over to the navigation console, starts the ships acceleration process and turns on the powerful Microwarpdrive module fitted to the frigate, the plasma thrusters used by the Gallente federation ignite in a fury of bright green light and sets the frigate on course for its intended destination.

Zante with care and precision guides the ship towards the coordinates given to him by Blindwolf.
“This would have easier if i was in a pod, instead of doing things the old ways” he says.
“You are doing just fine” replies Blindwolf.
“Why did you request that i fly the ship manually anyway?” Zante asks.
“Sometimes the old ways of doing things work best in certain circumstances” Blindwolf replies.
“You speak in riddles old man, i can barely understand what you are trying to say at times” says Zante. Blindwolf chuckles.
“Good, it makes you think” he replies.

Zante flies the “Fatman” into the extremely thin atmosphere of the Moon VII, turning off the Microwarpdrive as he approaches the surface of the moon, he slows down the speed of the frigate to 10mps.
“There is nothing here but cold rock” says Zante. He is not far from the truth with his observation, the moon is unremarkable by any standards, numerous explorers have sent drones to gather information on whether deeper exploration is necessary and all have come to the conclusion that it would have been a waste of ISK if they moved further with any plans. The moon was made up mainly of cold rock, its surface was a mixture of flat plains with rocky outcrops and deep canyons, which some of the Republic’s cartographers believed harboured entrances to underground tunnels leading deep inside the moon. But none have tried to venture in any of them, believing they would not lead to anything valuable.

“Take us there” says Blindwolf pointing at a large canyon in the surface of the moon.
“What are you serious?” asks Zante.
“Yes i am serious boy just do it” Blindwolf barks back. Zante maneuvers the frigate to hover just above the deep trench.
“What now?” Zante asks. Blindwolf turns to Victor.
“have you managed to make it work yet?” he asks
“Only at 70% for the rest of the way you will have relay on your memory. says Victor.
“I have not been through these tunnels in a long time Victor” says Blindwolf.
“Wait you have been here before?” asks Zante turning his head back and forth to Blindwolf and Victor.
“I haven’t but Blindwolf has” replies Victor.
“You have been here before oldman?” Zante asks Blindwolf. Blindwolf does not respond.
“Ok lets use it, we will have to make do with what we have” says Blindwolf addressing Victor.
Victor puts his hand into his pocket and pulls out a small cube shaped object, he places the object the navigation console, the cube powers up and a holographic map is streamed out from the cube. It is a map of the moons underground tunnels, most of the map is clear but they are some areas which end abruptly.
“Its incomplete but will have to make do with what we have” say Blindwolf.
“We are lucky we have the information that we need to get to our location” replays Victor.
“What are we looking for?” Zante asks both of men.
“We are looking for a base built deep inside the moon, which was pivotal in the push for Matari freedom”.
“What, how come i have never heard of it?” asks Zante.
“Its a secret which they choose to keep a secret” replies Blindwolf
“Who are they?” asks Zante. Blindwolf studies the map and instructs Zante to take the Frigate into the Canyon and enter the tunnels beneath.
“Who are they?” Zante asks again.
“The elders boy, the Guardians of the seven tribes” replies Blindwolf, with a smile on his face.

End of Part one.
