Was looking at the attributes and description of the Interceptors skill, and surprisingly it makes no mention of any added bonus per level of training. As all that is required is L1, is there any benefit in training it up to L2 or L5 for that matter?

Yes, you might want to look at the description of the ships in question though, rather than the skillbook itself.

Example, for the Stiletto:

Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret damage and 7.5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret tracking speed per level

Interceptor Skill Bonus: 15% reduction in MicroWarpdrive signature radius penalty and 5% bonus to Warp Scrambler and Warp Disruptor range per level

Role bonus: 80% reduction in Propulsion Jamming systems activation cost

Alot of people seem to train the skill to lvl 4 => 5 if you fly it alot.

the general SOP for t2 ships....

train to 4 for casual use
train to 5 for hardcore use (ie its your fave go to ride and in them alot)

Main exceptions I know of are logi's. they really do work best at 5 and even if you don't live for the logi role you may as well do it right when you have to. . Recons may also be an exception if you care about the bonus. I can fly falcon, I did the 5 to get the most out of jams. The CPU reduction can be useful as well as they can be tight fits (other recons I can fly that is).

Your inteceptor.....I would not 5. Level 4 gets you good enough and unless you really like to tackle in a rather frail frigate most of the time its time to move on to better ships. But if you like em and say who needs that hac on a roam...may be worth it.

I personally did not 5 any t2 frigs until later on in game and in a mixed state of boredom and I really jsut don't want to train them caps just so I round out lots of sub cap skills. Just did CO and AF tbh since more worthwhle bonuses. Didn't really like the inty in the early days...that will probably be forever at 4 lol. YMMV

Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret damage and 7.5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret tracking speed per level

Honestly this part seems pointless cause you need Minmatar V to use the ship anyway. They could probably just tell you that you get a bonus 25% to Small Projectile Turret damage and a 37.5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret tracking speed .

I'm sorry to whoever had the hostage, but I may have just sawed them in half.

I imagine that came about from a point based balancing system used to initially create the ships.

Example: Assign ship X points, then deduct points for bonuses. A 25% bonus consumes more points than a 5% / level bonus.
