Yeah, bring on more failquitters who fail to quit. It was quite amusing last time. :)

Edit: it's a shame we can't verify who REALLY quits versus those who talk a big game, those who let a single subs expire with four others still running, and those who proclaim "my subs is up in 8 months, and I won't resub! (Unless something changes)." I'd love to see people FORCED to keep their word (ie, you let a subs lapse, you can never use that same credit card/device again or reactivate that account again.

It sucks, but it's not really our business how CCP is run. We should really only be interested in how EVE is run.

PS Since you're posting that from a PC, which will be largely made from parts produced in Chinese factories who literally work their staff to death, your concern with supporting corporate cultures seems to be unevenly applied, to say the least.

ROFL. Well said.

As for the OP, well, it is what is is. CCP is having to lay off people to get it's financial house in order. What really sucks is that good people (the guys getting laid off) are the ones having to suffer for CCP's terrible over-reaching. That is a travesty and an injustice.

However, it's also business. Sure, we can be mad that CCP over-extended itself (while milking us as a cash cow), but how can we then be mad when CCP takes the very painful steps to correct their mistake?

What I consider apprehensive is not that people got laid off, that may have been a necessity, it's the blatant lie about the reasons for it.

If you're spread thin and not focused, you reassign your workforce to the parts you want to focus on, where not enough workforce was available before. You do not lay them off, keeping your workforce as spread thin as before.

The mass lay-offs had financial reasons. There is enough work to do on EVE to keep everybody busy, there just isn't enough money to pay all of them. Claiming otherwise is a lie.

Of all the things that could/will motivate me to cancel my subscription, fact that company decided to fire some employees is among the last ones. Sorry, but that's life - I've been losing my jobs too and I survived.

Only thing that bothers me here is knowledge that CCP is obviously in deep s*** when they had to pull so drastic measures. Because 20% is really A LOT, and it's a very bad sign.

The OP is perhaps the most naive and clueless person in the history of forums.

Businesses contract when they lose income - its an unfortunate and unavoidable reality.

Protesting the contraction by removing more income is like is like protesting against hunger by destroying food.

OP
unfortunately you are missing many points.

first those people hired should never have been hired in the first place. its sad, but its true, they shouldn't have been hired because WOD shouldn't have been THAT big on the priority list

i too, wish eve got a wave of new players so the ones we lost could stay and work on WOD, but i completely agree with CCP's decision to layoff people

all i ask is that ccp help them get into other jobs in the industry

For me strange behavior and bad image of the company was enough to unsubscribe all accounts 3 months ago. What did you expect from them - they suddenly become ethical and reasonable after saying "we don't care about our clients' demands"?

I think new wave of unsubbing will be related to fact game doesn't have any new content for like 20 months already and +4 ships added to 150 existing - they won't change anything for like 90% of player base. And hybrid/cap rebalance doesn't worth $180/year because it's not actual content.

It's so funny that people really believe the "Refocus" stuff. You'd think after all the lies and mis-information that CCP put out earlier this year, some people would be suspicious?
You don't refocus by cutting 20% of your staff. You cut 20% of your staff because you made some very bad mistakes and now your paying for it financially. Oops

If you kiddies want this sugarcoated over, due to your inability to understand business concepts, keep believing....but cutting 20% indicates a company in trouble...Cool

Right, thanks Mr Business COnsultant. I assume you will also be unsubbing before CCP collapses? Is that the sky I hear falling? Oh no sorry its the sound of all the idiots stomping around trying to sound relevent/clever.

As opposed to your response? Instead of coming up with a valid counter argument, it's tears...
I didn't say CCP was dead, I was simply stating the obvious fact that they clearly are in trouble, and everyone seems to want to sugercoat it.
As for subbing, I unsubbed my 3 accounts 6 months ago, I recently renewed this one on plexes, simply to have some fun shooting goons in icebelts, but I don't see any major changes in game at this point....
I can't really say anything about promised changes, because they haven't happened yet. Considering CCP's past track record of total fail on promises, I wouldn't get to excited about all the promises....CCP has been promising WIS for years, and after all this time we finally got WIB. Not to mention, some of the changes are a joke, and a kneejerk response to the fringe.

Generally when you cut 20% of your staff, and then demand a bunch of changes, in record time....it doesn't go well. Lol

But I wouldn't mind if they somehow proved me wrong, maybe the game would be worth playing again.

FAIL!

I suppose in order not to be entirely hypocritcal you'll also be boycotting products made or sold by:

Microsoft - Better go buy a mac
Cisco - uh oh, no more interwebs for you
Wal-mart
Sears
Lowes
Pfizer - Bye bye advil and other drugs
Merck & Co - More drugs!
GlaxoSmithKline - Even MOAR drugs!
Boston Scientific - Hope you don't need their medical devices
Delta Airlines
Lockheed Martin
Northrop Grumman
Research in Motion (BlackBerrys)
Borders - You probably don't read anyway
Hasbro - no toys!
Marvel Comics
Briggs & Stratton
Hewlett-Packard
Whirlpool

Ah hell, I'll just give you a link so you'll have a list of all the things you can't support any more in the name of your misguided principles: http://dailyjobcuts.com/

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

20% cuts is nothing, That's about what, 3 times the average yearly emplyee churn in a modern day service-oriented or industrial company ?

Eve is only a game for the paying subscribers, and for no-one else. Remember that, bottom line counts just like everywhere else. If it wouldn't, none of us would have a job.

Fail protest is fail?

There isn't going to be a next 'wave' of unsubs. CCP hit rock bottom with Incarna. You can't get worse than that. I mean they could try...but they would have to try really hard.

So far the blogs look good, people are smiling and something just exploded in local. brb.
