I did TankCEO buddy invite and I'd have to say I'm extremely unhappy.

To be clear, I was not scammed or cheated. I'm just unsatisfied. I mostly blame EVE online obsession with making things more complicated and obtuse then they need to be.

I was told to email him when I subscribed. I did. Apparently I failed.

The links I was told to click on only lead to making new accounts. I was 10 days into my trial, I had no interest in making a new account, I wanted the benefits for my current account.

I don't blame anyone but CCP. The buddy invite system is weird, obtuse, and hard to understand.

To be clear, I have nothing against TankCEO, he was protecting his own interests and I respect that. He did not cheat me or take advantage of me in any way. I simply don't understand the buddy invite system. It seems counter intuitive.

I dealt with TankCEO too - transaction was perfect, without incident. TankCEO delivered the funds as expected.

I'm sorry the Buddy system didn't work for you but it was ideal for me. Gave me a stake - have already bought a 2.5% stake in a corporation with those funds.

How is the buddy system hard to understand? Not like you need that much isk anyways. You'll end up buying shares in a corporation like John did lol.

They could use the isk to buy and fit a ton of (insert favored ship here) and not worry about getting blown up while learning to (insert activity here) because you can just go back to station and grab another one

It clearly states all over the buddy system pages that you must use it to start a new account, not upgrade an existing one.

There is nothing wrong with the buddy invite system, you just failed to read the fine print.

Well, I want a Ferrari, a million bucks and a hot date with Megan Fox. One does not always get what one wants. You cannot partake in the buddy system with an existing account. I believe this is made pretty clear so if you don't like it then don't do it.

Which part of buddy invite does the OP not understand? You have a friend and EVE has the option to invite him into the game and both benefit from it. "Invite" by definition means you're new to it (at least account wise). Don't blame the game or its players if you can't understand, or simply don't like, logic.

The buddy invite system is great for new and old players alike. Your poor reading comprehension does not make it any less so.

Sorry.

But if you want a buddy invite. You MUST make a new account. No way to add the buddy invite on an already existing trial account.

Buddy invite isn't to blame, it's your lack of not reading the rules and regulations about it.

EDIT:

Love how everybody here sees that the flaw is with you and not the Buddy Invite system.

Here's your chance to start Eve Online the right way. If you use my program, I will get you started with an extended trial, and if you subscribe with the account you created under my wing, I will transfer you isk for free! CLICK HERE to create your new account

Here's how to create your new account under my wing:

  • Simply click here to create your new account and instantly receive an extended trail, or you may request one privately by sending me an email @ tankceo@gmail.com. Once you've created your account, you may begin to play Eve Online on your new extended trial. This doesn't extend an already existing trial, so again, you must create a new account through the link above!

I don't think the OP has difficulty reading or understanding how it works. He just doesn't like it. He wants to have his cake and eat it. If he has this attitude of entitlement throughout his EVE career then I don't expect it to last very long.

I didn't fail to read anything.

I think CCP could maybe do themselves some favors by allowing people who have actually attempted to play the game, like individuals who are in the middle of a trial, to benefit from the system.

    That is why it sucks.

    Flame on.

Oh my god, 10 days in, I can see why you didn't want to start a new account based on that.

That arrangement would not be in CCP's favour. What you want is for them to do you more favours. And as somebody already said, with that kind of attitude right from the start, you probably won't last here long.

    Sense of entitlement? Favors?

I want CCP to take my money. And give me more reasons for me to feel better about them taking it.

The OP was a rage post, I'll admit it. But at its heart it was criticism of the system and how it works. I don't see why its a bad idea.

I don't want to start over, create a new account and person. I like the way my guy looks and his name. I guess by EVE standards that makes me have a "bad attitude" or "sense of entitlement"? That is ridiculous.

If you could benefit from the buddy invite system by subscribing part way into your trial....how is that not a win for everyone?

A loyalty / long term player reward system has already been suggested in the General Discussion thread, and CCP didn't seem adverse to the idea. We'll see what they implement.

This sub-forum isn't really the place for venting anger, or for suggestions to CCP.

As far as existing programs for benefits for a long term player, Tank CEO is doing it right, reaping benefits from you and everyone else being his buddy. You just did it backwards. You can, however, start offering buddy invites to others, and gain free time from it, on your high level character, if you want.

You CAN subscribe part-way into your trial, and you keep the remaining trial days (they don't get wiped out).

So, don't. Who is forcing you?

No. But thinking that you can change the rules to suit yourself gives you a bad attitude. The rules are well established and have been in place for a long, long time. Just because you do not like them and think you are entitled to "free stuff" for doing nothing, does not make them bad or wrong.

It is not a win for CCP. A new player is either going to subscribe or he is not. By giving away a PLEX to players who are already under a "normal" trial, CCP are very unlikely to get many more subscribers, but they will be giving away a whole lot of PLEX. For every PLEX that is given away, they lose a month's subscription.

You do understand that CCP practically gives out 1 month worth of game time to the inviter when the invitee upgrades their account, right?

Yeah Tank CEO is swimming in free months.
