Just saw this for the first time as well, and I've had some ideas in my head for a bit, sounds like fun.

Any chance that you will extend the deadline on this? I've been working on something that I'm excited about, but I might be too busy to complete it by December 2nd. Big smile

Ah, I wish we could. But we have a few people involved, and they've already made plans around the Dec. 2 close date.
But on the other hand... writing under time pressure is an old writing tradition! Smile Good luck!

Wow, some great last minute entries.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

When *exactly* is the deadline? The intro says it runs to Dec 2nd... Does that mean entries must be submitted by the end of the 2nd (i.e. end of today)? If so, what timezone? Just trying to work out how many hours I have left. Shocked

Well I've just posted my entry (a Day in the Life) and sent the link via mail. And the link to the blog is on my character bio.
I'm planning to add a few more stories there in due time. Hope you'll enjoy them

OK, we've hit the end of the entry submissions period. Well done everybody. A total of 101 original, new works came in from the writers of the EVE community. Not bad by anybody's standard, I'd say. Smile 43 of those came in during the last two days before the contest deadline. That's about 20/day in the last two days, compared to about 1.5/day in the first 37 days of the contest. Once again, a fine tradition or procrastination/deadline-sweating was followed! You, ladies and gentemen, are true writers. Smile

If you entered the contest, please:
-Make sure your entry is on the Contest Entries & Reading Bank page. If it's not there, it's not accessible to the judges.
-Make sure the entry is in the category you wanted (8,000 Suns or A Day in the Life).
-Make sure the page's hyperlink to your entry is working properly.

OK, so about the judging: Please watch here or on the contest blog page for an estimate when we'll be done. We just received about 340 pages of new entries for the judges to start reading. We're all doing this in our after-work hours, so that will take some time. But we're aiming for announcing contest results as soon as we can. We'll give an update on when we expect to be done in a day or two.

o7 all, well done!

Edit: While I have the chance, I'm going to plug our sponsors again. Why? Because they enabled this whole contest, but nobody's going to think about them unless they're mentioned once in a while. A because they're not getting anything out of this, except some limited exposure and knowing that they did a good deed. And besides, we want to encourage them to support some next contest in the future! P Anyway, thanks to all of these people again:

labtechwar - Contest page banner design, free of charge, free of drama, and free of ego. Click the link and check out his/her impressive artwork.
EOH Tom - 12 PLEX for the community.
Somer Blink and Eve Online Hold'Em - 10bil each, just for the hell of it. I like the way these guys do business! Big smile Good community members, I'd say.
EON - Two magazine subscriptions. What can we say, EON-level writing is what we're aspiring to.
CCP (link not really needed) Smile - Officer drop graphics card...!
And finally, CCP coordinators and fellow judges CCP Eterne and CCP Falcon. o7!

The hyperlink for ill gained goods does not work properly. It does link to my main story page which has the link to the actual story right there.

From the stories that I've had the privilege of reading, they all have something worth mentioning.

I have a question about the judging though:

As far as determining an overall winner, how far does adhering to Eve Lore and Cannon go?

I've read some entries that merely toss the name of an NPC into their story and call it good so that they can be considered for the grand prize, then I've seen others that take a significant event of EVE's Lore and Cannon history and bring it alive with their submission. While still good stories, it's evident that some of the them don't have any real connection to any of the rich content we have in such abundance.

Thank you for everyone involved, the amount of fiction received should give anyone a good run for their money. I wish everyone the best of luck.
