EVE Fiction

I awaken again.
The surroundings are again strangely familiar.
Suddenly a blast of memories fills my head.
There was an accident.
I don't recall when but, I know it was major.
Some cataclysm....some terrible fate befell me.
It's hard to piece things together with that woman still screaming at me.
She is still commanding me, prodding me, demanding me.
I ignore her mostly.
Something happened though. What was it?
I feel a shock through my body, my brain suddenly feels numb.
I can hear a rushing sound in my ears, it's as if an ocean has filled my head.
I get dizzy and collapse.
I wake up in a puddle of what I assume is my own vomit.
My joints ache, and my skin feels as if it's on fire.
Suddenly I realize the presence of about half a dozen people near me.
I think I'm being carried somewhere. . .
I know they are speaking, but I can't hear anything over the rushing.
I reach up to rub my ears, and I touch something wet.
It's sticky and viscous.
My eyes are too hazy to distinguish what's on my fingers.
I feel gentle pressure from an outside source, my hands are being gingerly laid by my side.

I remember my first pod.
It was a long time ago.
I was part of a small group that was specially trained to use these new ships.
It's so dark though, I can't recall much.
I had a friend.
What happened? When was this?

Everything starts to feel very hot.
My brain feels as if it's melting.

I awaken again.
I'm back in the cloning bay. Again.
This time my body doesn't hurt.
