As it stands there are at least half a dozen or more Dust 514 players who are stating they will be running for CSM.

Some are Eve Online players, some former Eve Online players and others have no experience of Eve Online outside of Dust 514.

So, my question to the General Discussion - what's your thoughts on this?

as long as sentient beings exist,

until then, may I too remain

and dispel the miseries of the world."

The CSM fairly represents the interests of all play styles within the Eve Universe. Of couse it should include a Dust 514 player.

Dude, I'm proud of myself. I typed that whole thing before bursting into laughter.

Pretty sure all 10 Dust 514 players will represent a significant voting block in the upcoming election.

CSM is for EVE

Dust still has to have its own "T20" or what was a reason of creating the CSM Roll

Will CSM encompass both games, and allow players of both games to vote?

CSM is useless meta-game like alliance tournaments. I'd prefer CCP to relocate resources to WiS or Dust or any other EVE mechanics which affect/involve more than 10-200 players.

Dust is a lot more free to play then EVE is. Will the Dust CSMs push for more micro transactions to be implemented in EVE?

They have avatars as well. Maybe all they will want is Incarna repeated.

Bad idea. I support Dust, but it's a different game, as much as it's connected to EVE.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Maybe worth waiting for the game to launch before having player reps?

400k capsuleers vs. 800k+ f2p console gamerz (dusties) voting for CSM. Wonder how that'll go.

I'm in it for the money

Nah, more like the US elections, 800k+ voting but only 50k actual living bodies voting. Gotta love those PS3 hacks Blink

If those dusties are only in it for the Dust game then yeah it's fine. Kinda wouldn't make any sense if EVE players who don't play Dust or vice versa were to represent said games.

But now I assume that this is a captain obvious moment and that Dust players will not have any say regarding EVE itself.

Let's not forget the outlay from CSM members current and past, it does take bank to turn up in Iceland, attend Fanfest etc.

That said I feel there should be a static seat on the CSM for a DUST rep, they would be able to illustrate the integration side of things, and any problems arising from it, from a DUST standpoint. How many seats in total? 1.

Meh I don't care who gets in CSM... Stuff will change whether I like the change or not... All I see CSM as, is a place for people to gather to make themselves feel like they are important and matter.

As I said before, things will change. It does not matter who is in the CSM because chances are that what ever they say could have been pre-decided by CCP to be implemented/changed anyway. It is really just a way for CCP to say they care and make a select few feel important.

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.

I give the Eve-Dust514 connection about 4 months before pubbies are shooting a statue in jita again. Then CCP will sever the links and Dust will become another crappy Planetside competitor.

Its not like the CSM actually makes decisions.

This is true, but they can be a useful tool to guide CCP away from stupidity. Judging from dev blogs and their own internal memos CCP literally had no clue that Incarna was going to be as big a clusterfuck as it was, and they had no idea as to WHY it was such a huge clusterfuck until someone took the time to fly the fairly intelligent players of the CSM out to Iceland and tell them why they were being dumb.

Lets face it: these forums as a useful tool for the playerbase contacting CCP in any meaningful manner with good forward thinking ideas are absolutely useless. They are shat up with trolling and dumb ideas. The assembly hall and general discussion is a cesspit of dumb ideas.
