T1 or Navy Ammo

So I am dual boxing Machs.. it works well..

My question is it worth the cost?... both of those ships combined deal about say 1100 from guns with t1... navy.. would get me upwards of 1250 each so a 300dps increase... Is that worth it for 4x the price? Anyone know how to calulate the benefits?

It seems that once you get past a certain point the npc regen is no longer a problem.. So would that 300dps cut my mission down by that much I should consider it?

Although i can use t2 its crap for tracking.

If I it even comes close to upgrading... I might consider it...

I used to reprocess a lot of the useless loot and flip it over to build T1 ammo, then use LP to convert it to faction ammo. Total cost on the faction ammo was around 500 or less each. (could be way off on that, higher or lower)

Of course in lvl4 missions there is a fine line using this ammo, sometimes it cost more in ammo to kill a rat than the bounty. But in the end I found that the 1400 dps was worth it more often than not. Keep some T1 in the hold and switch ammo between rats, then you decide if 2 volleys to kill a BS is better than 3 or 4.

Side note: Faction is always better in Artillery the cycle time is so slow you want get every bit out of it when they fire.

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

I was using faction ammo when mael was my L4 ship, I had lower skills so ammo bonus was useful and allowed me to kill faster and earn back price of ammo/ Now with mach I use T1 and it is more than enough of dps and range. I pop frigs at 80km, melt cruisers at 50-60, BS die before I close range to 30km. So in my opinion - if you are flying your machs with proper skills for them (I have minnie BS 5 and gall BS 4, all gunnery supports at 4/5) navy ammo with it's 300dps bonus is not worth it.

So why bother training gunnery sills to lvl 5?? the extra 2% to rate of fire etc is not worth it Ugh why put faction gyro's.. why put faction tanks and ab's.. all the not worth it's add up in the end. 300 dps to me is a HUGE deal, its like having a 3rd alt in a BC's tag along

To OP: the long story short is that the bigger volley damage the better ROI of faction ammo. From what I know, autocannons have it at its lowest and artillery have it highest, of all guns. If you're into RF cartidges, maybe give a try to Vargur with its 100% dmg bonus which, unless my estimations are wrong, should make faction ammo use profitable.

I almost exclusively use T1 ammo, I do keep a limited amount of faction ammo for a swarm of tough rats or when I feel I may need the xtra umph such as second part of downing the slavers where incoming dps is pretty high but almost all lvl 4 missions t1 ammo is fine.

My mach is strictly T2 fit without any faction bling on it but I would rather buy faction gyro than ammo for my mach. I could always put it on my cyna or wolf or whatever. Skills apply to any size of AC/arties. Ammo is bound to only one size of guns. You are right, 300 dps is huge gain but it is paper value, in "reality" number won't be so big and I decided it is not worth my ISK. Whatever floats one's boat, I guess.

If you're doing lvl 4s there shouldn't even be a question about what is the proper ammo to use. You're after the LP. And the faster you can get it, the better.

To be honest it is really not that expensive. Use salvage\loot and build t1 ammo, use LP to upgrade to faction. Even though the mach chews through ammo, 5000 rounds will last you a good few missions.
