Keeping some ideas fresh

One year ago we where asked about our ideas what is necessary to do in high sec.

I wanted to re-post two ideas cause i think they really would fresh up the game or are a logical iteration.

Quote:
First thing comes into my mind is mining. Though I am no longer mining I started out with it and there would be alot of opportunities to make it more interesting.
I am a noob on RL minerals but i never have seen rocks which contain only one type of ore.
1. Use rocks which contain more then one type of ore (be it in a layered fashion where on the outside there is veldspar, then scordite, plag, pyrox, omber etc. you can do this all the way down to Arkonor cause the amount would be very small like 10 units per roid or even belt of 0.5 sec status)
2. Those roids would be much bigger in order to work
3. when you break through the first layer you would get a warning that you are changing to a different type of ore and if you would want to recalibrate your lasers to it. if you dont you get only like 5-10% of the ore out of it as a "side-product"
4. depending on how good your skills are the better the amounts are youre getting out of a layer
5. in 1.0-0.9 you get only 2 layers, in 0.8-0.7 you get all the current high sec ore but in less amounts, 0.6-0.5 you get all the ores from the empire but in lesser amounts (one more thing in #7) Nothing which is worth much, but which makes the whole belt more colorfull.
6. rats in belts are escalating up to like 2 cruisers and 1 BS in high sec. when you dont kill the rats after 10 minutes they get help from 1 cruiser, then after 20 minutes a 2nd cruiser, after 30 minutes the 2 cruisers and 3 frigs get one BS more. No more afk'ing mining.
7. make less static belts but more belts from missions. say a mission gets random ore. when the mission is completed, the belt in there can be scanned down easily (so should be blue'd wrecks). Those mission belts should work like the current high-low-null sec ore distribution. so a mission belt from a lvl 4 mission in 0.5 could contain even a small amount of arkonor. As i have said not much - say like 5-20 units. But this belt would be as colorful as it could get containing all possible ores in smaller amounts.
8. not re-calibrating resulting in mining ore in a new worse quality like instead of "dense veldspar" it would be "rusty veldspar" which would have -90% value of normal veldspar.

Main idea is to utilize the mining skills better, make it more colorful, more engaging (more rats, heavier rats, called to action for re-calibrating mining lasers). On the whole the value of a belt / belts in a system could stay around as they are. Just with more items.

Well the new tank-abilities should be taken into consideration: http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=73098
A barge with a 5er set of small drones should be able to tank 3 frig rats. (Even after the changes in the NPC AI)

---

Second idea was an iteration of the "mark wrecks blue".
Quote:

Some people dont loot or even salvage. Therefore make blue wrecks be scannable very easy (like on the first scan run at 32 AU in a T1 frigate).
Also when a mission is turned it and the wrecks arent made blue - make them blue after 1 hr. (people might still want to salvage them after turning it in).

Its a shame flying a mission, mark wrecks blue and no one will go and get them.

---
Another idea just came into my mind which is a mix of industrial refining, mining and salvaging.
For drones use a further skill "advance scrapmetal". Drone "wrecks" should be able to be "reprocessed" in space, which is like mining. You would actually need a mining laser for that. Depending on the skill set you get more and more valueable !minerals! out of it.
Its like the recycling of a cell phone. It has gold in it, silicates, plastic, copper etc. So you repro it in space and with an advance scrapmetal at 5 you would get like 2 units of gold, 10 silicates, 9 copper and 30 plastic.

***

Well thats it for now. Tell me what you think and keep the discussion going. Above all I think the idea about mining would really benefit the game.

If you posted these a year ago and nobody found them interesting nor functional back then, what makes you think anything has changed since? They're not fresh ideas if everyone thinks they're rotten ideas.

About the one year old idea...
Often ideas are taken into account but the priority lies somewhere else, due to limited resources.

Please explain why the idea is not interesting (at all & just to you) and why its not functional.

About your insult. Please make only conclusions for yourself, not for "everyone".

Actually, I like the idea and it does seem to make mining a lot more interactive other than just watching local and Dscan for potential gankers.

I support this proposal and I'm not even a miner.

+1

Also the part about scanning blue wrecks would be great if it's done with the ships onboard system scanner instead of needing probes. That would make it much easier and faster to find them, especially for new players.
