Hi All,

Here is the thing, I love EvE, always will, but recently I've been enticed by a game on Kickstarter called Limit Theory, its a being developed by an extremely talented one man team and promises an 'infinite' universe filled to the brim with procedural content!

Link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joshparnell/limit-theory-an-infinite-procedural-space-game

If anyone has the time to spare please drop by, watch the video, and do what ever you can to support this amazing looking game.

I have to admit that despite initial reservations about the ability of one person to produce a decent game, this young man seems extraordinarily capable of achieving just that. Not knowing much about procedural generation I was left somewhat bewildered by the apparent complexity of the games structure, but that in itself is wonderful, it's given me the incentive to go and do some research of my own into what this kind of world building can achieve with modern technology.

I've dropped some money his way just to see what he can come up with and will be following his progress very very carefully over the coming months. Just as an added extra, I visited his wiki page found here which contains more detailed information on the processes he employs, as well as some beautiful examples of procedurally generated graphics. There is even a nice little nod to EVE in there Cool

Boundless innovation and the desire to create something amazing has always had a place in my heart, it is what has kept EVE in my life for almost 8 years, and with luck I will be able to add another wonderful experience to my growing list when this project reaches fruition. Big smile

Minecraft, though it's more simple and tends to do the job well enough. First game I saw do this was the original top-down 2D version of Wolfenstein. Diablo 1 is note worthy as well.

I'm not sure how this will turn out though, procedural content generation can be bland, especially in single player games. You are not just generating a dungeon or a world terrain, but a large environment. So it could feel familiar and repetitive, although a multi-player element could make it far more interesting much like the Minecraft servers can be.

btw, speaking of play during downtime, or games to play to curve EVE burnout, X3 is on sale at steam. Smile Playable now.

I'm in it for the money

If the whole kickstarter/indie craze is teaching us anything, it's that there's a whole lot of unneeded bloat to most modern game development.

Not to say every game could be made with one person, but even small groups of people are now making games that compete with titles hundreds of people made.

This dev is One Man Army....

Somtime i think by this way, so meny games like single player rpg, even some free to play or fremium games are designed and createrd in period of 1-2 year form start to finish... And EvE after 9 years is like is with no big features mass grafck upgardes etc... But well CCP got own vision of EvE and they work on it by specific plan etc, in fact CCP can totaly change EvE but they know EvE should be like is, and no big changes need, because this game got own style, and people like it.

I love EvE but while i look a other modern games i think EvE got very slow evolution proces, however im not game developer, economist, programer etc, and for sure im totaly wrong, im ordinary gamer who think by simple way...

Ps. CCP need people like this guy , i mean not to change EvE by own visions etc, but to bring fresh ideas , a crative person who cooperate with other devs.

EvE isn't game, its style of living.

Well LT got funded, but still some superb stretch goals to go though. Now those 3 hour + content patches will fly by!

Shocked My mind was just blown.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
