As a rank seeker, might you add an asterisk or other indicator to the categories that are included in the global rank calculation?

Why is overall rank sometimes not available even when it looks like all other ranks are calculated?

Much like it. But with some differencies. Because there is many corps, which player can have or don't have. Also because the corp standings are not affected by working for an opposite faction.

in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much?

My API stopped updating about 17 hours ago apparently as a result of an "illegal page request" error. I logged in and refreshed my settings, hopefully that will restore Cool

Can you have a look and see why my sheet on EB says I'm training Amarr BS 5 but finished it 72 days ago, since I finished that I have trained Caldari BS 5 and Gallente BS 5 and am part way through Mini BS 5, but it doesn't seem to want to update my currently training skill.

Chribba, when switching to the Ranks tab, my overall rank is often not presented/visible, however if I view the full list I can clearly see my char. I have noticed this behavior at many different times throughout the day and irrespective of whether or not my character has recently finished a skill.

As an example:
http://eveboard.com/pilot/Ford_Chicago/ranks (no rank displayed)
http://eveboard.com/fullranks/p2/ (char listed at 1665)

I have tried updating my API keys and refreshing the character but I have not been able to consistently see a value on the ranks page.

Thanks for providing this site and service. Is there something I am doing wrong that prevents the rank page from calculating/populating? Is there anything I can do to ensure that the overall rank value is visible/present on the rank page?

@Tau Cabalander, will double-check that, it should have autoupdated when I put on the new db.

@Ford, ranks are calculated every 30 minutes, it might be that the calculation takes so long time that if you grab your page while it's doing its thing you will have - rank, and the rank pages are cached while the character pages are not. I'll look into if I can speed things up a bit.

Hi Chribba

I've noticed that a lot of players are showing up with way more sp in a given rank than the maximum availlable for all skills to 5 in the given catagory.

I believe it's due to old data not being cleared during an update and instead being added to the total of the new data, resulting in some players exceeding the maximum by several millions.

This error seems particularly rampant in the Navigation Catagory with the top 9 players listed with more than the maximum possible sp. but is also present in most other catagorys.

Is there any chance of this bug getting fixed?

Absolutely, I will look into it. I know that sometimes happens when calculating ranks if a table is locked at the time of the updates so might have to change the routines for table locks.

update/Think it should be taken care of now, and it was like I assumed with the locked tables, new rank generation should however use distinct values rather than complete sum()

Hi all,

Just wondering why the top 3 oldest ranked characters, are listed with their names shown, but the data hidden? Surely you can't have it both ways - either your hidden along with your data, or listed with your data.

Just wondering because I had the same situation a while back. Btw thanks for all your hard work and dedication on eveboard Chribba!

Lyeta, this is on purpose, even if you hide your information the top 3 will never be anonymous in the rankings - this to prevent the top 3 to be anonymous.

Simply because I am not interested in seeing the top hiding, while they are free to hide all they wish, if they do qualify for top 3 they will be shown for others to envy lol

So really the ISK category would be the sensitive one, a user is free to hide their ISK value and thus be delisted from that category, but not allowed to hide all and still be ranked.

Just back after a complete year of EVE absence. Despite no training at all for 12 months still around No 200 on eveboard, as I see ... Big smile

I think I have proposed it already a couple years ago, but I would like to iterate this idea again:

What about a blueprint ranking for the industrialists among us?

Just add the number of blueprints one can manufacture, ML research, PL research, copy and invent, and rank it. Seems to be quite easy, and probably could add an interesting different aspect to the global pilot ranking.
