For PVE I regularly fly a passive tanked Rattlesnake. Pretty much have have maxed skills for this ship but was looking for a way to make it even better. I was going to invest in some Halo implants to reduce its sig. radius. My line of thinking is that my shield rigs increase the sig. radius so to reduce this might reduce incoming damage from attacking ships. So what do you think? Worthy of the investment or not? SETH

i cannot tell for sure but my gut feeling is that a rattler's sig is so far beyond help that a halo set would not do very much if anything.

I should buy an Ishtar.

The rattlesnake is a shield-tanked battleship. Putting sig-reducing mods on it would be akin to putting overdrive injectors on a Nyx to counteract its low speed.

If you want to make the Rattler tank better via implants, switch to an active setup and plug in some Crystals.

Pretty much this... and if you're flying against Angels or Minmatar, you're going to be TP'd to hell and back anyway.

I'd stick with +5s with shield HP and recharge rate hardwires. When in a passive rsnake, I can't really think of any pirate implant set that would be worth using.

Perhaps I misunderstood the drawbacks of the shield rigs and the increase of sig. radius or the Halo implants themselves. I was under the impression that implants would reduce this increase in shield radius and/or the ships overall radius?

the implants reduce the ships overall sig radius. the problem is that the rattlesnakes sig radius is like the death star. reducing it by ~20% won't do anything in practice.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Crystals only would help if I had a shield booster. Think the last reply is totally correct that I can only make a passive Rsnake better with hardwire implants. Thanks for the feedback. SETH

Yep, I see the light. Thanks Daniel

It will, but that's completely useless on a shield-tanked battleship because your sig is so goddamn large that it's not going to help you.

Going back to the prior analogy, it's like fitting overdrives to a Nyx. Yes, it will make the Nyx faster but it will still be a brick.
