I want this guy to be able to fly the avatar very well. To either use for my own or sell the character.

Question

What else do i need to train to fly a titan besides the obvious Amarr Titan which im not ready to buy.

I am not a titan pilot, but...

Stuff that jumps out at me:
* Cloaking 4
* Cynosural Field Theory 4 [preferably 5]
* Long Range Targeting 5
* Multitasking 4
* Shield Management 5
* Shield Operation 5
* Armor Rigging 5
* Repair Systems 5 [for Capital Repair Systems]
* Jump Portal Generation 5
* Biology 5
* Nanite Control 5
* Thermodynamics 5
And a bunch of drone skills wouldn't hurt.

Could be useful in a super-only fleet:
* Remote Repair Systems 5 [for Capital Remote Repair Systems]
* Energy Emission systems 5 [for Capital Energy Emission Systems]

Though targeting may not be a major concern, even an Avatar has a lot of shield, and faster shield recharge wouldn't be a bad thing.

The drone skills I threw in at the end, noticing that that Avatar actually has a drone bay (I was surprised - assuming EVElopedia is accurate). Also not a major concern, but I personally would rather not have unused capability I might one day later regret "if only..."

Since you are a titan expert, how about adding to the skill list.

I assumed it would be useful to fit reppers out of combat, rather than always relying on another ship.

I expect it would be slow, but then I've self-repped an Orca in hull using only small reppers, so you could say I do have patience. [Why: Hostiles had taken the system, and I couldn't leave the POS force field to get remotely repped.]

Ok, at least a Titan pilot would notice this, but I would probably train all the Armor comp skills to V first.

Well, I'm glad that if not useful, I at least managed to stimulate some posting to this thread.

FYI, The OP already has those trained to 5.

A couple things. 1) that skill reduces shield booster cap cost, not shield recharge time. 2) Titans can only lock 2 targets 3) Titans don't have drone bays.

I actually agree with you on the capital local rep bit though.

I understand the 5/5/5 benchmark is the important bit. That's Racial Titan 5, Doomsday Operation 5 and Racial Capital Weapon 5.

Other than that, anything that has the word "Capital" in the skill name or description (with the exception of shield stuff for the Avatar) and Core Competency Elite are good places to start.

5/5/5 is going to take you a while though, so you'll have plenty of time for research while doing that.

You are confusing Shield Operation (which I recommended) with Shield Compensation (which does nothing for capitals).

EVElopedia for the Avatar is indeed wrong then. Sad

So I am. For some reason I thought I remembered looking up the skill and seeing it was the shield booster oneOops
In that case, take it to 5. It has a benefit.

EVElopedia is famous for being horribly out of date. Kinda sad they can't keep their own resources current.

In case you didn't know....

Base targeting range for all Titans is 250km, so trainng Long Range Targeting even to level I will have no effect.

Edit: But training to IV would be good for other ships. Training to V is not needed, but is sometimes nice.

Ah! No, I didn't know that [anybody that says they know everything about EVE is delusional IMHO.]

Great post Big smile
