The Macks are good in this scenario as they don't require a lot of your attention thanks to the large cargo hold.

It'd be nice to see the orca with a larger ore hold. Seems a bit odd having the fleet command / logistics ship with only slightly more ore capacity than some of the barges.

^^ I agree with this 100%.

With the changes to mining ships. it just does not make sense for the ORCA to have such a small ore hold. It is supposed to be a fleet support ship for mining. 3 max yield hulks can fill it very quickly. 5 Hulks in fleet fill it in minutes. With such a large ore hold in the mackinaw ORCA logistics are almost not worth the bother. In a larger fleet you are better off just using Macks and running ore back your self, with the orca only there for fleet boosts.

The ORCA should have its ore hold expanded to at least 100m3.

Between cargo hold, corp hangar and ore hold, orca can hold upwards of 170km3 ore, on top of boosting for your miners.

But yes, please continue to mine and haul in macks- keeps ore prices high for me :)

True, if you fit it for max cargo. That leaves you with what about 80k tank? I actually get about 176k m3 with a max cargo fit. But mining with 3 or more boosted hulks it still fills way to fast. Dropping the cargo expanders for a DC II and a Reinforced bulkhead II bumps you up well over 200k ehp and still leaves you with 144k m3 for ore. An extra 50k m3 in the ore hold would save a tanked ORCA 1 trip every 3 loads. Not much, certainly not game breaking. But would be a nice boost. Even a max cargo ORCA would save 1 trip every 4 loads.

I would actually like to see 250k m3 ore hold in the ORCA to actually allow it to haul the ore without warping out, losing boosts every 10-15 minutes. But I felt asking for a 100k m3 ore hold was more reasonable and would give a nice little boost without really changing anything balance wise. I just do not understand adding a large ore hold to the mining ships without increasing the ore hold of the support ships used in the same fleet. There really is no reason why the ORCA's ore hold should not be expanded to a more proportional size compared to the new ore holds of the mining ships.

Having a Rorq in a hidden belt in a fully upgraded system is not really an issue, there was regerly 2 Rorq's in the belt with me when I was mining in 0.0. When you have allot of hulks mining you fill them quite quickly. What you do need is a good intel channel that you can rely on to give you for warning of any hostiles heading your way.

The thing you have to remember is that when you are mining on a daily basis ABC's and your stripping belts that just re-spawn, your making a ton of ISk even when paying a 'rent' so as not to be botherd with silly things like PvP and calls to arms. Replacing lost ships even Rorq's as long as you don't make a habit of it is sustainable.

It's all down to how well you know your area of space and how much you trust your corp/alliance as to how much you risk in space whilst trying to get as rich as possible. If reds regularly come though or close to your system leave the Rorq in a POS and haul with something smaller.

The tank on your orca is irrelevant in nullsec.
