If drones are valid targets we need to see their aggro

I have resigned myself to the new AI changes, they are not going to revert them this far in. However, I do have one request.

We need to be able to see when our drones are actually being targeted.

I know that the entire drone interface is terrible, and they want to fix it, but I would ask that given the AI change, this particular fix is made a priority.

I also know that you can simply watch for aggro to leave your ship, but when you are with multiple people, or gaining initial aggro it isn't that simple. Only knowing that something is wrong when the drones start falling apart is no fun. You do not reward the diligent because by the time they are locked, some drones simply wont make it back in time to survive. It is no longer about keeping a watchful eye, it simply becomes a forgone conclusion.

Now, drone death could be considered a balancing factor to ammo expenditure, however I would argue that in a game where to be most effective you have to bring multiple kinds of drones, carrying backups becomes non-viable for some ship types.

All I am asking for is some sort of indicator that a drone is being targeted/aggressed. We live in a era of EVE where properly communicating information to the user is becoming a bigger and bigger priority, and this seems to fit in line with that concept.

Thank you for your time.

You tell when your drones are being attacked by the red bars increasing, indicating damage. As a drone user you should already know this.

Embrace and adapt to the changes, turret users have had to with Ewar changes from NPCs.

I agree OP. There should be some way to notify us when our drones are being locked.

...except OP was asking for a way to know when his drones are being targeted, not attacked.

I should buy an Ishtar.

First sensible whine about the new AI and drones.

Yes, supported. CCP please make this happen. Something as simple as the drones in the wretched excuse of a control window starting flashing a lá watch list would do it.

Reducing sig radius of drones would also be appropriate. Ogres have over twice as big sig as combat frigates.

Also, just please please stop the recalled drone group from expanding, and make the launched group expand automatically. The current backasswards way simply makes no sense unless the purpose is to infuriate users.

25m3 volume, 100m sig radius. makes perfect sense.

Two problems with this.

1) By the time the damage is being applied to your drones, they could already be webbed, and thus lost to you, and you will never know.

2) Once they take some damage and you re-release them, you get to play the "is that line actually moving" game. Which is not fun and goes against the current idea of making things more intelligible.

Shields, they increase your sig radius so tit makes perfect sense for a drone too as they also have shields.

Scythe (cruiser): 89000m3, 100m sig radius

According to lore it's more like the electronic footprint afaik, but really it's just a balancing factor. And as such drones have too large sigs. This is very relevant in pvp, but now it will also start affecting bears.

Needs fixing imho.

I'd also love to be able to see drone damage while in the drone bay. Its extra fun trying to figure out which drones were badly damaged when re-deploying.

Except Ogres (Gallente Drones) are armor tanked, which is why they're so slow (slowest in the game?). There shouldn't be any sig bloom from shields on them.

There is a giant difference between constructive feedback, and "buhu"ing.

I am not threatening to quit anything. I am attempting to make sure something doesn't get lost in all the shuffle. What I suggest doesn't make things "better" for one side while making it "worse" for another. Drones are one of those useful things almost every single person uses, and everyone loves information. My suggestion also fits in the current design dynamic of making things clear and easier to understand.

Its no secret drone interface is terrible even ccp has agreed with this.. The problem is redueing drones half ass.... like most stuff ccp puts out.. which will later require another overhaul years from now.. like T1 crusier right now and bounty system... Same deal

Oh I agree, I would like to see the drone interface improved and feel like a natural extension of your ship, not a tacked on afterthought. However, right now is when they are starting to think about the "next thing". I may be optimistic, but I hope drone interface is part of that, so I wanted to get this idea in there early.

I think the drone overview should work similar to the regular overview.

Drone beeing targeted blinks yellow, drone beeing locked red framed.

No big deal.
