I didn't know there were rating bots. Man AI sure has advanced. Soon they'll be making things TO rate.

EVE has PvP scripts and for anyone who doesn't believe that, force a Ti-Di and watch certain fleets crash and burn. As long as fleet based combat is the corner stone of Null, they will be there.

As for rat and mining bots, they will adapt. Games where the community is the power, they will abuse. Power, corruption, blah blah blah. We all know the creed.

The new NPC timer will screw those who disconnect (DC) and who also happen to have the NPC timer whether they were traveling via gate or were doing PvE stuff in a belt in null-sec. CCP's notorious "our logs do not reflect what you experienced in-game" will play an even greater part in player rage.

IMO, this feature punishes those practicing legitimate gameplay considering that Bot users will simply warp to their station, to a safe POS in-system or to a safe spot and cloak-up. CCP is a few years behind the curve when fighting bots, it appears.

edit: the tin foil hat on my head wonders if CCP has put this timer in place to reduce the ambiguity for their GMs with the "I DC'd and lost my ship to rats" petitions. Now, CCP can tell their customers, with clarity, to go eff themselves, there is a NPC timer and DCs do not qualify for reimbursement. May CCP's quest for more PLEX sales continue.

Large parts of 0.0 are used for this. Often NAP and blue standings are just to grant safe enclaves to install bot farms, some major 0.0 alliances (or their leaders) know this. In some case simply tollerate it, in other case are involved (directly or through host fake corporations created ad hoc) to pay their titans or for simple RTM.

For hunting bots that simply log off in space it will make them possible to be probed down and killed. For those that warp to a POS and afk/log off, its not really going to do much.

CCP botting policy is what made me quit EVE for the last two years... Why the hell did I return?

Not going to change much for null residents in their home space. Standard procedure for miners or ratters is to safe up in a tower when a red enters local. They will stay there until the big bad red goes away or AFK in the tower till 15 min timer expires, then safely log off.

Roaming gangs will get more challenging when trapped but that can only be a good thing. Farewell to the mass logoffski. At least now people will know the risks of logging off. Getting rid of hidden timers is a welcome addition. In the heat of battle that 1 minute aggression timer can feel like an eternity!
