Out of Pod Experience

I just upgraded to windows 8 pro this past weekend. I was running win7 pro(64) before which I purchased for only 40 bucks upon release and I only spent 40 bucks on win8 pro(64).

Upon first boot, there was about an hour of "watdafuqery". Took some getting use to since I am not familiar with the tablet scene. I use desktops and android phones. Macs are for wannabe cool kids and I'm too lazy to use linux.

After the first hour of actually learning how to use and optimize like I did with win7, it was actually awesome. I did do an upgrade from win7 so I didn't have to do much as far as optimizing. It is also installed on a SSD and I actually noticed 2 second faster from the already fast 12 second boot time after the upgrade.

I also run from the desktop mode. I especially love the right click feature on the "start" metro button in the bottom left corner. It gives me everything I need and I never have to use the metro UI. If I need to access programs quickly and often, I create a quick launch icon on the taskbar.

Edit: As far as alt+tab, it works flawlessly. And, it actually lets me switch directly between EVE and whatever app I want to jump to and then back to EVE without having to cycle through ever single open window I had open in the background like it did in win7.

For anyone using a music program without global hotkeys need to get with the times and quit failing. Winamp+global hotkeys=win. This is one of the best features of winamp! Why would you not use it?
