It is an agressive tactic, the bumper should be flagged immediately.

I do not understand why a pvp game, ties the defender's hand so much. You want to be aggressive, fine, but deal with it.

Yep - 'agro for bumping' is the my 'hulk got ganked by dessys' thread for the new generation.

Please please please get CCP to implement this.

What happens:
If your mining ship bumps a Drake on undock.
If your autopilot bumps a rookie ship while approaching a gate.
If you align to an asteroid to approach it and I am protecting that rock from any aggressively approaching mining ships.

You would be flagged. You would be shot. You would then cry on the forums about the changes YOU asked for.

Bumping has really only recently become a more popularly abused mechanic in High Sec. I do knot know what they could realistically do about it even if they truly wanted to. High Sec, and Capital Ships are really the only two places it comes into play.

With the eventual tesselation update making the hit boxes of ships actually mold to the ships, bumping will become much more difficult to do unless the person is sitting still (Pro tip: Don't sit still), but the ability to bump with no real recourse will most likely never be truly dealt with.

Capitals, sure. But only highsec? Please, please, please don't talk about things you dont know... bumping doesn't mostly come intoplay in hhigh sec. It may be more prominant and noticed now that various carebears are on the receiving end, but subcaps and caps alike have been the subject of bumping in both low and nullsec, be it off a gate, station or POS. Bumping isn't broken and doesnt require an agression timer.

Fit an afterburner, orbit the asteroid.

This also helps against tornado ganks.

Only high sec indeed. Big slow ships (namely capitals, as named above) get banged around, but you can also shoot the people doing so. Only High Sec is stated as such, because there is very little you can do about it at all. I don't recall saying it 'mostly comes into play' anywhere. I said it has become more popular in High Sec recently. It works against all ships, but just about any ship that can move faster than 80 m/s it becomes almost useless vs, so they fall out of the equation. Trying to insult for no particular reason when you miss points helps no one.

(I do agree with Mystical however in that no aggression timer is needed, nor is there any way I think they could implement such a mechanic without breaking part of the game)

Just a point... The new mjds are based on alignment. Bumping shortly before activation should alter the course of the battleship. Bumping bateships may become very popular soon.

I dont think we will see it for a year or so at least. I believe you can google EVE Tesselation 11, or do the same at Youtube for their video they used at Con.

It hasn't "only recently" became popular, it's just that the minerbears have nothing else left to cry about.

If CCP removed bumping, miners would just find something else to spew their tears over, like the fact that someone can .01 isk them on the market and thats totally an exploit a bloo bloo

I must be out of the loop a bit. I haven't seen many miners crying about it. I have, however, seen TONS of freighter pilots crying about it, and only recently (its been around, but not many bothered with it before, until it became more common knowledge about how far you could push it with GOONS doing their camps. Now there are many that seem to get bored so just run around seeing how long they can bump said freighters to prevent them from jumping just for lulz).

"minerbears", "carebears" "Nullbears" and self proclaimed "pirates" or "gankers" will always find something to cry about, usually using one of those quotes when they do so, or accuse others of being. It is the nature of MMO's unfortunately. They do tend to be the minority in EVE however, which I love about this game. And I will give props to WH residents in general. They have whiners just like everyone else, but very few.

Eve tessellation is going to make the hit boxes much smaller, which will make a smaller target to bump (and affect the angle of the bump differently than the current). Currently for example, you can bump an Orca from a distance away that visually looks like you could fit a BC or two between you. Once they (eventually) do their tessellation update, you will need to actually hit the ship itself.

......Of course, this will not affect bumps vs foolish people that are not moving in any way. ;)

On this day - Jita Burned. As freighters crashed into condors and battleships crashed in to Ibis's - Concord shot everything it could. Decimating and eliminating everything within Jita.

The hulls of burnt out freight ships remained - a testament to dying commerce. The shell of a formerly prosperous trade hub.

I've always wanted CCP to implement horns on each ship. I think the traffic-jam-esque random horn honking would be hilarious in Jita.
