But, would rather address this now than later.

Rumour has it that the 4 new ships will be entering EVE as battlecruisers this winter. Whilst on the surface I can see why you would think this is a good idea - ie, battlecruisers are the most popular ship class, and there are only 8 types of battlecruiser compared to 12 types of battleships, I would like to present a few reasons why this may be a mistake.

1) You already have 4 battlecruisers virtually no one flys.
The idea of tiericide has gained a lot of momentum over the last few years, IE the normalising of stats between the two tiers of battlecruisers so that both are either tier 1 or tier 2 (in terms of fittings, performance and cost). Why add 4 new battlecruisers in this context?

2) Although there are only two tiers of battlecruisers, the overlap between battlecruisers and HAC's, commandships, strategic cruisers, and if they decide to go ewar, recons/t1 cruisers, is extreme to the point of stifling; and thats before thinking of faction variants. Whether it be weapon systems, range, speed, capacitor, active tanking, slot layouts or overall roles, too much has been done over and over again, at different price points and with little difference in style. Tech 1 Battleships for the most part, stand alone.

3) Battleships have more slots, more slots = greater variety of possibilities in terms of slot layout and purposes that we can't do already. It's something I just don't see being possible with another set of BC's.

4) Note the number of ships you've trained large hybrid turret V for instance, and compare it with the number of ships Medium Hybrid turret applies to... No, I'm not asking for this SP to mean that I dominate all other ships as reward for being a :vet: but it would be nice to have more than 6 (including the rokh) none faction ships that skill could apply to.

5) Although the new BC's and BS's came out at the same time, it feels that BS's could use the biggest shake up. Probably due to the fact T3's are relatively recent and feel more or less like battlecruisers any way.

Like a mentioned, rumour and stuffs, but if you are on this path and there is time to reconsider, you should.

If somebody doesn't want' a Tech 2 Hurricane, there's something seriously wrong with them

But really, who doesn't want to see a RF Hurricane with moar hitpoints, moar slots & better PG? Nobody I say. The Hurricane may be the poor man's star destroyer, but damn is it amazing

I thought this thread was for real, then I remembered I was in General Discussion.

Perhaps like the Fleet Tempest the Fleet Hurricane should be Armor Oriented whilst the T2 Version could be Shield.

Aren't those called commandships?
