No

Freighters can:

Be loaded while in a station
Use POS modules (take / place fuel in the tower, use corp hangar array, use labs/production stuff).

Thank you, this was what i suspected. What if i have orca on the belt, is it possible to scoop from it, i belive those have corp hangar? I know they are changing it to "Fleet hangar" if it works now, what about future?

I don't know the answer to that, but won't your mining operation be over by the time your freighter gets in gift-exchange-range of the Orca? We're not exactly talking about fast ships here.

Well i was thinking about parking the freighter next to orca, and scoop directly into it. I will have 5 hulks and booster on belt (possibly other corp members), thats why i'm considering freighter. This way i don't need to warp to station untill i change system.

A freighter can't scoop stuff from an Orca. Likely to prevent the exact thing you were planning to do Smile

Read that again.

Doesn't say Orca, so No on the orca idea.

If you want stuff moved from your Orca to the station ---> another Orca or industrials

I'd also like to stipulate that working with POS mods only works if the POS itself is online. You cannot use a freighter to help set up a POS because of this.

Just a touch more - a freighter cannot loot wrecks nor jet cans with the exception of freighter (or jump freighter) wrecks (some cargo containers can't fit in anything smaller than a freighter so this "exception" is in there). Jump Freighters are a variant of freighter and have the same limits and abilities (can only loot freighter or other jump freighter wrecks).

Online POS's - they can do a lot of different things at but stick to normal space limits (can't do anything) at an offline POS.

So, in theory, you could take a freighter out to a belt, blow it up and load your stuff from the Orca into the wreck, then loot it into a live freighter but anyone coming along that can salvage or the like... I really don't see this as a viable/cost-effective approach to what's being attempted but - theoretically possible.

Just an update on this topic. It looks like CCP will be changing the freighter's functionality in Retribution. It will now be able to do standard in space things like scooping to cargo and such.

http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=73995

* Freighters will have most of their special-case restrictions removed: they will now be able to perform cargo operations in space, including moving items into and out of containers, moving things to and from containers in space, and jettisoning items

I'll just emphasize your point: Freighters are absurdly slow. There are few, if any, high-sec capable ships that compare to the slowness and ungainliness of a Freighter.

Being able to fit just a single Small Tractor Beam would be nice, though. It'll be up to the Orca to haul in Jetcans to feed the hungry Charon...
