A rather glaring problem with the new Amarr/Gallente Dessies

Straight to the point: Drones simply can't catch many Frigates. Some they can, Plated Brawlers and such, but there's absolutely no chance of them catching the newly buffed tech 1 Interceptors and ships like the Dramiel in any reasonable amount of time. With Drone navigation V my Warrior II's MWD at about 4km/s (If i remember right that is), many of the tech 1 Interceptors are fit for long range with ECM instead of tank and Orbit at ~18km, easily going 4km/s or faster.

Add in the fact that these are likely to be Armour "tanked" Dessies, and it becomes obvious that there's a good chance they'll only have two Mids, so no Web, lest they be given more slots than the current Destroyers.

You could say "well wait for them to run out of Cap", but Destroyers have no Tank with which to wait.

Dragoon: 25% bonus to drone MWD speed. AKA Hobs go 5250m/s, Warriors 7875m/s at all level 5 skills. Frigs be toast.
Algos: Yeah, you are boned.
Talwar: Boned with rockets. At least able to drive them off with Lights.
Corax: 19km range with Navy Scourge rockets with a 337m/s explosion velocity for 162 DPS, and 29km with Javs for 130 DPS. Frigs be toast.

The Algos is the loser in this fight, but the Dragoon and Corax really are going to be a no-go for kiting rail Atrons, damp Condors and other camp, effeminate ways to be pansy kiting bastards. Ceptors won't want to tangle with a Dragoon or Corax in the enemy fleet.

Seems fine to me.

Well, that is much better . Unfortunately, in comparison to how astoundingly effective the other two Destroyers seem I still feel certain that the Gallente and Amarr (especially Amarr) Destroyers are going to be in the back seat, simply because the other two are easier.

On the opposite end of the spectrum i expect the Corax to become an unstoppable monster of doing extremely bad things to Frigates with the missile buff that's incoming (particularly, Guided Missile Precision applying to all Missiles).

The new Amarr destroyer is a beginner mini Curse. With the drone damage and some added weapon damage its not so bad. Then take into account that you will shut down your enemy. They will have no hardeners, no mwd or ab, no guns firing at you, and no ewar against you. Meanwhile you are zipping around just fine letting your drones do the work while at a nice distance.

While the Dragoon does seem to be doing better on test server than I expected (thank every god out there), it is NO mini-curse. The neuts only get a bonus to range, which still only puts them out to about 13k tops since they are only smalls, and do not get any bonus to Xfer amount, which will limit their effectiveness, in particular vs anything larger than a frigate. This really only serves to keep everyone out of brawling range. So the enemy will still have hardeners, mwd, ab, and guns, along with ewar (the ewar will be limited in effectiveness due to drones though). It also does not get any form of TD bonus.

Really the biggest effective things is the drones damage bonus, the +25% mwd speed letting them zip up / fire / catch up again with fast ships, and the 25% increased cap recharge will allow a rather nifty double rep fit that I saw someone else use (in F&I forums under new dessies).

I will probably see if I can fit one with 3 rockets or LM's and 4 neuts, to see how well it does. With my drone skills as high as they are, I will do everything I can to make this and the Gallente dessie into my primary destroyers of choice.

P.S.: I saw someone recommend using 4 lights +1 med webber drone for the Gallente dessie. Interesting idea that I intend to try out.

Put a sensor damp or TD on it, and you'll force them into brawling range where you have the advantage. Hopefully it gets 3 mids...

edit: drat just checked the link. well you could always drop the prop mod... Roll

It's going to bring sooooo much pain.

Remember light missiles got a decent buff too.

With this, I do believe the Algos just became > to the Dragoon. 10m3 more drone fielded, bonus to weapon damage... this thing would probably be able to tear up the Dragoon before the neuts could do their work.

That's the problem I have with the Dragoon. What good is neuts against missile launchers, rocket launchers, or auto cannons? Or anything with over 12km range? The only reason this setup works on an Arbitrator is because it uses the neuts to shutdown propulsion so it can then dictate range or transversal velocity to use its TD to maximum effectiveness.

Neut one of the other races destroyers dry ( except for blaster ships) and watch as it shrugs and continues to rip you apart with its cap less weapons.

Sure it will work on frigs, they don't have near the range or DPS of a destroyer. That's why I'll be fitting NOSs and duel reps. If I can't shut their DPS down at least I offset some of the DPS while my drones chew on them.

Both the Algos and the Dragoon can fit surprisingly good buffer tanks.

At the cost of damage (dda's). I love em and will be flying em, but by giving the same speed bonus on top of drone damage bonus, and then tacking on that turret bonus on the Gallente, I just see it as a superior ship now, and the Dragoon as a no-longer original bonused ship in any way.

Train all frigates at least at 4 NOW
    Train destroyers 5 NOW

I don't see a lack of DPS from DDA's as a problem for the Dragoon / Algos.

The range-boosted neuts are going to kick ass vs kitey ships. I honestly cannot see how you'd approach a Dragoon with a great plan to take it out with a 120 DPS Gaytron. If you orbit close enough to scram, you get neuted flat. If you kite at range, you just DIAF swiftly to the drones of doom.

As for the Algos with 35m3, I'd personally rock 1 Valk webber and 4 x Hob IIs versus a frig. The Valk webber would actually have a reasonable chance of catching something with its speed bonus. Then the Hobs would tear it a new one.

The problem with the algos/dragoon is that any cruiser size ship or smaller with a mwd is invincible to drones. Sure drones can go 5km/s with mwd on ,but they have to stop the mwd to fire. So a curse going 2k m/s can effectively negate all damage from warrior II's much less a frig or inty.

The big problem isn't that the Algos running its MWD is slower then the Vexor running its MWD?

Destroyers are predominantly seen in FW where there are plexes cruisers and larger can't enter.
