Exceptional work there Team Game of Drones!!!

love the fact you included and addressed some performance issues and not just usability issues!

One of the few things that ive really wished for is to get a group of minimised stacked windows to sit in their own area on the neocom. Pretty much so that 1 group of chat windows are separate from another group of chat windows when minimised in the neocom and i can see it blinking when 1 group of 'more important' chats receive a new message without opening them all up.
Example being a bunch of intel channels all grouped into 1 window, and a bunch of social channels like alliance/corp etc... grouped into another.

thanks again for all your work btw!

I can't tell the difference between the limited and restricted icons. My digital color meter is telling me the limited is 115,101,34 and the restricted is 136,47,34 but I can't tell them apart as it falls too much into the golden/greenish area. Can you make it more yellow (like the wreck icons)?

you might be color blind then, because i see the limited one yellow, the restricted one red

I prefer the term color rod impaired.

Have you made it so i can click the "expensive" filter and click "loot all" and it will only loot the expensive items from a wreck?

If not, please do this.

irrelevant cause the price estimation is related to the region you are currently in, so the regional market could be flawed on specific items (both ways indeed)

Would you consider adding Ctrl-C for copy-able items like bookmarks?

Also, when double-clicking text in any input field, it selects the entire input text. It's generally standard UX now to select just the word on the first double-click, and then a triple-click will select the entire block.

Which type of color blindness is it? We tested this out using both Protanopia and Deuteranopia and it had a visible difference between the two types. Let me know what type of color blindness it is and I'll look into it for you.

Hope that helps.

no, it's a global price

If it's too much to ask to be able to differentiate looting 3 caldari navy BCS from looting a 10000 stack of T1 scourges, then don't do it...but I'm pretty sure they have the means...

also, they would not have included price estimation if the region you were in affected a reasonable estimation of the price.

I love the changes, but again the issue that I don't see being resolved are 20-200-2000 member corporations having to deal with
8 tabs and/or roughly 16 tabs based on security settings.

Not that WH life promotes 2000 people trying to live out of 2 corporate hangers all the time, but seriously... security is an issue in the corporate hanger array. Has nothing been done on this front?

A Corporate Hanger array imho should entail the same amount of storage, but instead of having corporate "tabs" on CHA's, have player hangers that are accessible to certain security levels and above, and having a shared function.

I know one of the joys of WH life is popping a CHA and potentially taking loot and that shouldn't change but there is a need to address my faction loots from kills sitting in a hanger 30 other people can access (Even if it is for the 5 minutes for me to change ships and prepare to haul it out of the wh). As an added bonus, this might encourage more people to be lazy and store valuables in whs longer and make pos bashes more rewarding!

Edit: I should note that corp tabs on industry stuff is fine, but a CHA just strikes me as inefficient or inadequate for security in a pos.

Nice blog, looks like some good changes/fixes that will hopefully repair a goodly chunk of 'lost' usability if they deploy as planned :)

Also nice to read a blog that says not only what was changed, but gives the reasoning behind each change as well, all too often it's just "We changed THIS." and it can be hard to see what the perceived gain is, reasoning out your changes like this gives us a better understanding what you're doing and why things will work in a certain way, should help greatly with inevitable "Why it works like that?" questions that will asked ingame later :)

All in all, good blog, actually something to look forward too in a patch at last rather than dreading :)

We would like to give a very special thanks to the CSM for their contribution to the Inventory improvements. They have been in discussions with the team regarding prioritization of tasks and what areas to focus our efforts on.

Can i haz the following pwease?
In the "actions"-window where i can start looting a wreck (the window with approach/keep at distance/look at/target/etc.), can i haz ctrl-click that button to auto-loot everything instead of opening the loot window and click at loot all?

Would be very helpful :3

These changes are amazing.

Thanks for the effort - this will be one of the top, bestest things about this winter expansion !

Thanks for all the work on this. It will make my and others play more enjoyable.

One thing Ive never seen addressed in any inventory iterations is this: There is no way to sort items by intended use. For example, say I wanted to sort out all modules I use for fitting ships, keeping them separate from other stuff. I cannot do it. Sure I could put them all in a can, but the automatic fitting tool in the fitting window will not work for modules that are in a can. I must keep all those modules in the main window.

Now say I want to sell some modules Ive manufactured. I pull them out of the industry can and place them in the main inventory. They are now mixed up with the modules I use for fitting. There is no way to sort those modules I want to sell from those I want to use for fitting.

All ore I want to reprocess has to be in the main window. All minerals I want to use for industry have to be there. All loot I want to reprocess has to be there. It all can get mixed up with the same item type for which I have a different intended use. I am forced to decide between keeping items sorted, or keeping them where I can actually use them.

How to solve? Make several actions work from containers. Example:

I can reprocess anything that is in a container.
The fitting tool gets modules from the inventory area in the front most inventory window, and places un-fitted ones back in that same inventory.
Items in a container can be sold.
Materials in a container can be used for manufacturing.

The main issue I see here is volume change. Players could take actions that overflow a container. I see two ways of handling that issue.

One is to test if the action would cause an overflow before actually doing it.

The other is to create a new type of container which I call a bag. A bag is a container with no defined volume. Its as big as it needs to be to hold the contents. it would have no hit points, and if jetted it would go away with the items just appearing in a normal jet can. All a bag really is is a way for me to decide how I want to sort items. All the extra actions I listed above (reprocess, fit, etc) would be extended to items in bags, and just bags.

How about optional dual panes (and dual directory trees).

The addition of tabs would be VERY welcome; the directory tree can be very cluttered for advanced users, and very inefficient to work with.
Configurable tabs would solve this, perhaps different set of tabs (color coded/different UI locations or whatever);

Active ship locations (drone bay, cargo hold, corp hangar, ore bay etc)
Corporation hangars
Personal Locations, containers
POS objects

Trying to emulate the old win95 file manager in 2012 is so 1995, what CCP needs to do is to develop a modern user friendly file manager (because it's a crucial part of their main GAME and income).

if i click one or more containers(ships/plastic wraps/...) in the hangar view, can you please also highlight it in the tree ?
