Nice work, I like the new inventory anyway but improvements are much appreciated.

Ok, how can I participate? Something that I see the point in, hope it'd make eve better :)

i think that participating is just login in Buck and reporting bugs / posting in forums

Does your problem above still exist on Bucky?

i'll check it tonight, i checked many things related to new content so i'm not in my home system on buck

Thanks so much!
Because of this devblog's awesomeness the inventory tweaks is my favourite feature of Retribution, now.

we have changed the default behavior of the index tree in such a way that now when you open any inventory in a separate window you isolate the tree of that inventory.

You can now make the width of the index tree much greater than before, as well as minimize the inventory content area all the way down if you just want to use the window to view the index tree of a certain tab.

You will also notice a set of ‘<<’ and ‘>>’ icons to the left of the View mode icons in the Inventory window. These are the Back and Forward buttons to move between the inventories in the order you selected them within the same window.
I'm confident, thanks to these changes in particular, that the new Inventory will be more practical than the old one, finally :) Giving us a lot of options to customize the inventory's behavior is much appreciated as well. Now if only the ship bay would switch on its own when switching ships... P

This sounds very promising!

@CCP - I have a (terrible) recording of some UI latency while fitting ships. Figured I'd pass it on, but who would want to see it?

can we have a "loot all nearby wrecks and Cans" button? you know for whem like after a fleet fight you have 100 or 200 wrecks around you with your cargo ship and you just want to get al their contents fast before enemies appear?

Ah, it wasn't mentioned in the blog but if you have your Active ship's inventory selected and switch to another ship, the Inventory will stay on the active ship, instead of the ship that was active before you changed ships, because that is what players expect.

Was looking at performance issues together with a few other team members. Feel free to post it in this thread or the Inventory Performance thread. Though it may have been caught as part of the general improvements.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A TROLL

I can't tell the difference between the limited and restricted icons. My digital color meter is telling me the limited is 115,101,34 and the restricted is 136,47,34 but I can't tell them apart as it falls too much into the golden/greenish area. Can you make it more yellow (like the wreck icons)?

Overall, very awesome changes to the inventory. It looks like you're going to fix a lot of annoyances.

One big point of concern (for me especially):

Quote:
You will also notice a set of ‘<<’ and ‘>>’ icons to the left of the View mode icons in the Inventory window. These are the Back and Forward buttons to move between the inventories in the order you selected them within the same window. You will also be able to use the mouse to go back and forward, if you have a mouse with such buttons.

Please please please please PLEASE give us a check box to disable this feature.

I use the thumb buttons on my mouse to talk on TS, and when I have reason to have multiple TS/Vent/Mumble clients open, I use the other thumb button to work the second client. Needless to say, when I'm trying to browse the web and talk on TS, it is a HUGE pain in the ass. Every time someone asks me a question or says something to me that needs a response, I end up either going backward or forward on the internet if I have focus on the browser. When I read the highlighted statement, my thoughts immediately went to fighting with the inventory while trying to talk on TS. Overall, anything that improves ease of use is a good thing, but understand that there are going to be a significant number of players out there in my situation, and for them it will be a major headache, probably the BIGGEST headache of the patch.

Nice work, the changes look nice.

While you are looking into corp hanger permissions, would it be possible to address the issue of not being able to directly drag items from a corporate hanger to the trade window? At the moment (even if you have the correct permissions) you must first move it to your personal hanger before trading it.

I understand this would probably be a small use case, but for test_free (the program that we have to give out free ships to newbies from the corp hanger) this is used very heavily and would make our lives easier.

why you don't then attribute another config to those buttons in your drivers, then match them to your voip software?

i too use the middle thumb button for the push-to-talk, and because of simiar issue i sat up a mapping and then it works

because opening a wreck / cargo belonging to someone else is not an aggro issue but picking something up is.

this one is painfull when fitting ships for several ppl at the same time and you are the only one with role to take from some assets
