A list of the Years within EVE - A News Compilation

It pretty much outlines how things were in game...

Note the extreme/non-existent lore content for the last couple of years. If you include the lack of chronicles, which used to be quite regular, you're left with this extremely sad emoticon:

Part of the issue is not necessarily the lack of lore, but the lack of updates to the yearly guides.

As for actual lore, well... Can you wait 2 weeks?

If this is the 'long stand' 'glass hammer' deal I'm gonna post in GD.

On a serious note, It's not a source of complaint that the Lore kinda stifled in dissemination.

I remember reading those things and thinking "who cares?" It wasn't that I thought the lore was uninteresting, it's just I had better things to do; It simply didn't affect me in-game.

Of course, it's not exactly easy to shove lore in one's face in a sandbox game. The incursions sort of do that and most people were against them until the isk started flowing. Now they're almost universally seen as a source of isk, not a source of story.

Up until now "Lore" has always meant some random dead-space thing you can warp to and look at for 15 seconds. I'd like to see lore something you can "do," and have an impact on. COSMOS and epic arcs are a step in that direction but aren't immersive enough. Nothing comes of them, that is. Once they're done, it's as if you never did them in the first place...nothing changes in the world.

It should be possible to launch scientific expeditions, meaningful rescue missions, corporate espionage/sabotage, all of which, if successful, has an impact on the in-game "lore," which then affects other player's immersion in related lore. This would, of course, require on-the-fly mission creation, significant dev involvement, and probably soem serious re-coding of the game, so I'm not exactly holding my breath.

So until that happens, I must return to my first point about the yearly summary things, which is "who cares?"

The Audesder / Kenobanala finale (all 4 factions end there with low-sec missions) are hard, and rewarding.

If there was a mechanism in content to unlock items like the Micro-Jump drive people would do it, faster than a normal downtime :P Think: Chain of supercaps dropping cans all the way to a POCO to get items quicker than warping to a planet in one ship.

If such a mechanism were plausible it would add for some patch day competitive edge, using a "not until a week later off-switch" would avoid the Tuxford-effect and patch day blues....

I wouldn't mind losing that kind of bet :))))

Does sound awesome though, even if it's only 3 chronicles

That would be really nice-- player actions that meaningfully impact the lore. I suppose it would require a lot of dev involvement and guidance. But seems doable. D&D Dungeon Master devs! Smile
