Title says it all.

Why is this 'feature' still in the game?

Highsec.

Using it in nullsec is suicide, and it's inadvisable in low.

You want to make highsec more safe by removing features used to AFK in highsec?

If players use a game mechanic without understanding or accepting the consequences, who cares if it exists or not?

I literally just took a white knuckle 6-jump trip out of null/low, then a 12 auto-run to get 'home'. Was never AFK, and was ready to run/fight the entire time.

It's suicide in high Sec too. You have the kill mails to prove it.

I've never been killed in highsec while on autopilot & I do it alot. Although, I don't carry nice stuff in my cargohold while doing it.

I hit Autopilot and step away from the keyboard quite often.
However, I do consider the consequences. The risk vs reward etc.
Time is everything in Eve, and keeping moving (although very slowly) while I eat dinner with the family or whatever is a reward.
The risk is getting ganked, so I reduce this risk by only using Autopilot in High Sec, in a hull that will not make me cry too much to losse.

A few years ago I have seen a freighter on auto pilot going through low sec alone. Unfortunately I wasn't in a ship that could tank the gate guns long enough. Amazingly, that guy made it to his destination without getting shot at.

Speaking of AFK game play. Lets create a Scenario.

Suppose I am multi boxing and I have a character logged in to lets say Uedama III and another in, oh I don't know, lets say somewhere in Deklein?

I have a guy running fleet booster in Deklein, he doesn't need to be paying attention, he's behind a POS Bubble so he can watch his Uedama char and see if anyone is trying to Auto Pilot through the system in fat old freighters. He see's one and a bunch of his buddies, all running anoms in Deklein can flip to their dual boxed AFK account and go out and kill the freighter.

Isn't that really just using AFK to get more out of an otherwise boring game?

If they removed Auto Pilot, the game would still be kind of tedious but those guys multi boxing Deklein and Uedama would now have to chose. Do I sit on a gate in Uedama and kill freighters the hard way or do I sit in Deklein and do Anoms?

Sounds like Win- Win because we don't want those nasty AFK people in EVE, do we?

Let the punishment fit the crime. The punishment for AFK autopiloting in a freighter is not to take away everyone's autopilot ability. The proper punishment is to let other people pop the freighter and take all the goodies. Everyone wins! Smile

True but now it's selective punishment based on my ability to power one account or multiple accounts. That's not very fair, is it?

Having said that, I run 5 accounts. I just don't think it should give me the power to control single account players.

This information is still hilariously wrong. Despite Powers SA actually telling everyone exactly how we do this, people still have no clue.

I know how you do it.
I don't want to stop you from doing it. That gives you an EVE is becoming trammel soap box to climb up on to. I want to make it harder.

So you know how we do it, but you also have no idea? How does that work exactly?
Also if it's so easy, why aren't more people doing it?

Because manually piloting across highsec in a shuttle does not make for either beneficial or enjoyable gameplay.

Also, without autopilot, no-one would know where the **** they were going, even if they were piloting manually.
