As you are aware (seeing how you are nerfing them) heavy missiles are easily the most overpowered weapon in the game!

Is there some tournament rule banning HML ships from participating? Or was there a gentleman's aggreement between the teams that no one would use these overpowered ships?

If not, then I am really confused! Where's the Drakes? Where's the Nighthawks? And for cruisers, what could be better than an overpowered Caracal or Cerberus? Out of the 350 or so ships used so far, why is it that no one has used even one of these overpowered death machines? Heck, no one has even tried to ban any of them.

It's just weird!

Heavy Missile are pretty good in THE GAME. The arena is not the game though, it is limited in size, thus limiting the usefulness of long range ships. Combine that with the fact that there are weapon platforms that provide more DPS than HMLs and you have two major reasons why no one is using those setups.

Look how bad you are.

I haven't noticed many ECM ships in the tournament either, seems they aren't overpowered eith... oh... oh right....

Of course you have seen ECM ships, and in pretty much the majority of fleets. It does raise another point though doesn't it. Despite the tremendous number of ECM boats used -- in some cases entire fleets comprised of nothing else -- only rarely did it actually give the team using it victory. More often these teams were destroyed.

But back to heavy missiles...

The one answer offered thus far was that the arena is quite small for ranged combat. However, the arena is 300km across, which means that a MWDing Nano Drake would require about five minutes to cross the arena from edge to edge. And of course other ranged ships and fleets were used successfully, so that pretty well negates that point.

The real reason no one has used (or banned) the Drake thus far is simple: the fleet FCs who might have considered using the Drake decided that there was something better for the job.

This is not the place for discussing game balancing.
