Hi.

I have found free moon in hi sec, not far from Jita. And this looks like an oportunity to set up a pos, first pos of mine. This alone would be a new experience and that IS good ) But I do have several questions.

  1. can a Pos owner grant acces to a char which neither in his corp nor in alliance
  2. as far as I know for research in Caldari space Caldari pos is a good option (nice CPU), but I'd rather build small ships, so what would you suggest as more lucrative - research or t1 frigs (and what race of pos)
  3. my main is in TEST alliance, so can have pos in null sec, but wouldn't it be stupid not to anchor POS in high (I do not see free moon everyday)
  4. if pos has run out of fuel and is being attacked would it still be protected by it's shield and get in reinforce (let's assume it has fuel for reinforce) and a would pos owner get a notification about what's happening?
  5. if I do not use all cpu and power that pos provides, does it mean that pos consumes less fuel?

  1. No
  2. 'That depends' - These thing change day to day.
  3. You'll need the standings to anchor it in high. And that's corp standings, not personal. If the corp doesn't have them, (the sec level * 10, can't anchor above 0.7) you can't anchor it.
  4. No. No shield without fuel.
  5. no. use everything.

You can't set up a moon mining array in high sec, am I wrong?

You're correct. No moon mining in high.

The only access you can 'grant' is the ability for the non corp/alliance member to enter the forcefield by giving them the Starbase Password.

Research vs Small ship assembly is something you'd be better doing your own homework on, people aren't keen to divulge their secrets if it makes them good isk, but as for control towers, assuming large towers.
Amarr has 5,500 CPU 5,000,000 Powergrid = ~ 1:909 CPU to Powergrid
Caldari has 7,500 CPU 2,750,000 Powergrid = ~ 1:366 CPU to Powergrid
Gallente has 6,750 CPU 3,750,000 Powergrid = ~ 1:555 CPU to Powergrid
Minmatar has 6,000 CPU 4,375,000 Powergrid = ~ 1:729 CPU to Powergrid

Mobile lab takes 500 CPU 100,000 Powergrid
Advanced Lab takes 600 CPU 120,000 Powergrid
so roughly 1:200 CPU to Powergrid

Ship Assembly Arrays
Small takes 250 CPU 100,000 Powergrid
Medium takes 500 CPU to 200,000 Powergrid
so 1:400 CPU to Powergrid

So in theory if all you're putting on there are assembly arrays then Caldari or Gallente would be best since they're the closest, but it's unlikely you'd just stick to assembly arrays, so the ratios could be thrown out of the window.

Have a look at http://eve.1019.net/pos/index.php and play around with some setups.

A pos used to have variable fuel requirements depending on the CPU / Powergrid load, Heavy Water and Liquid Ozone if I remember, but that all changed when they brought fuel blocks in, now a tower burns the same amount of fuel all the time it's onlined, regardless of what's being used at the time, it's a little simplistic way of working, but hey that's what it is, and apparently it's was meant to be easier to manage pos's which I can sort of understand.

The CEO, Directors and other people with the correct roles in the corp (not sure which roles) will get 24 hours notice of a pos running out of fuel / charters, you'll get evemails saying it doesn't have enough resources for 24 hours. I presume the same people will also get notification of a pos under attack

A question about defense. Can I change ownership of POS after war dec? If so, then I just do it and attackers gonna have to declare war to new owner... after a while they'll give up Cool

Nope.

POS are tied to a corp. To change it, you'll have to tear it all down (losing anything you have running at the time) then have someone in the new corp set it all up again.

  1. No. No shield without fuel.

Correction: no force field when offline. The control tower always has shield. Offline towers do not enter reinforced mode.
