A few questions about the Orca...

Have read through the Evelopedia on pages about the Orca and just have a few strategy questions about...

- From what I have been told, the Orca provides bonuses to every person within fleet that is within solar system... Is this correct?

- I was also told that people within the corp can deposit ore within the Orca - is this true? Does that mean the ore belongs to the capsuleer who is flying the Orca... Or can the player who makes a deposit also withdraw it at a later date? (If so, where do they withdraw it from).

- What is the difference between the corporation hanger and the regular hanger?

- I've read n the Evelopedia page that it can store ships... Does that mean you can store a combat ship in it's hold, then if you are attacked members of the fleet can then change from a mining ship to a combat ship?

- Anything else you think I should know like tips on using the Orca?

Also, a slightly unrelated question...

- I've heard people say that they will have a alt fly the Orca while they use other characters to fly ships. Can you log onto alts simultaneously? Or do they have to be separate paid accounts to log on at the same time?

If you have "gang assist links" fitted in the high slots, then yes. Be aware though the Orca only has bonuses that apply for mining related links and the not the warfare ones (though, you can fit those too for extra protection for your mining fleet).

Understand that the links only apply when activated (like an active repair/hardener module) and cannot be activated when the ship in warp, in station, or has no capacitor power.

Anyone within range (2500m) of the Orca can transfer Ore (or anything from their cargo) into the Orca's corporate hanger... which can then be moved around anywhere in the ship (the cargohold or the ore bay) by the Orca pilot.
Anything put into the Orca is effectively the property of the Orca pilot... so be sure you trust the pilot before you move anything into their hangers.

The corporation hanger in the Orca has a limit of 40k m3. A regular station hanger has an almost infinite capacity (I say "almost" because there is a limit... it just takes effort to reach it).

As long as you or the Orca pilot are not aggressed by another player, yes. One simply needs to be in range (2500m), leave their ship (right-click, leave ship) and the Orca pilot can scoop it up. To enter a ship, the Orca needs to jettison the ship from the ship maintenance hanger and you need to move your pod to within 2500m of the unoccupied ship... right-click, enter ship.

Be aware that the ship maintenance hanger has a limit of 400k m3... which can hold about two Covetors... or one Retriever and one battlecruiser... etc.

Separate paid accounts.

One risky thing you CAN do, but is not recommended, is to fly your Orca to a place you want to mine, pop out a mining vessel, board it (leaving the Orca without a pilot and unable to run gang links)and then mine away... putting ore into the Orca until you have your fill... then climbing back into the Orca, scooping up your mining ship, and flying away.
I do this on my alt when mining missions in high-sec.

You don't need to leave your ship to use a ship in an Orca's ship maintenance array (SMA), nor does the Orca pilot have to eject the ship to be boarded.

If the other pilot has access to the ship maintenance array, the pilot can board the ship directly, swapping ships if the pilot was already in one, assuming the ship will fit in the SMA.

Example: One can fit a cruiser into the SMA and swap into it from a mining ship. The SMA is too small to hold a battleship, but one battlecruiser can be squeezed into it, or 4 cruisers, or several frigates. I like to keep a fast frigate with a MWD in the SMA for scouting the next belt, and getting a better warp-in point. I also tend to keep a HIC in the SMA.

Apart from the risk, you won't get the Orca's mining bonuses this way, since the Orca is unpiloted.

Skimmed over the replies but here are mine:

1.) Yes BUT....

a.) You must have the Orca's fleet boosting modules running.
b.) You must be in a booster position in the fleet.
c.) You must have the appropriate skills to boost from the position you have the fleet (aka some one with Leadership trained to level 1 can't boost for a full fleet, just for 2 persons)

2.) Others can deposit anything into the corporate hangars of the orca. At that point, the Orca pilot cna shift it to it's normal hold if he wants to make more room for extra ores in the corp hangar.

The ability to take ores back from the corporate hangar on the orca is linked to roles/titles in the corporation so that depends on the pilot, corporation and how they set up roles. HOWEVER, the pilot of the orca can ALWAYS access all tabs of the corporate hangar as it's HIS ship.

3.) The difference between corp and normal hangar: The corporate hangar is like those in stations where you have an office, there are the same 7 tabs and are also controlled by roles (see above). People can open the corp hangars by right clicking the Orca and can dump stuff in them (or take them out with right roles).

Your normal hangar is like any other ship, it's private, you are the only one who can access it.

4.) Technically yes, practically not that easy. See previous post, the size limit of the hangar itself means you can't put very much in it.

5.) For tips: contact me in game (convo or EVEmail).

6.) About alts:

2 characters on 1 account = NO
2 characters on 2 paid accounts = YES
2 characters, 1 paid + 1 trial = NO

Basically you can have as many paid accounts logged in with 1 character of THAT account.

I have currently own 6 accounts all full (18 characters), this means I can log in a maximum of 6 characters at the time as long as they are on different accounts.

Orca Alt, BEST Alt

Seriously, it's a carrier that you can use to move stuff around in High Sec. Even after it gets nerfed here in a few weeks, it's still totally made of WIN.

Just to clarify that if you don't have an Aggro counter, you can simply use the Board Ship command (by right clicking to open the Orca's SMB) and thereby do a ship swap. This only works if the ship you're currently in has nothing other than charges in its cargo hold.
