hi, id like to know why one gets gcc in a hi sec system for doing nothing other than just being there.
heres the story:
i jc to a system to grab an old ship (was just a blackbird i was toying with back in the day) i jc there to grab it and bring it back to my home system. i took the short route which was about 19 jumps (17 of it thru hi sec) it was either that or 50 jumps thru low sec. anyway, halfway thru the route i land on a gate and it doesnt jump me thru (i usually right click on gate and jump so it warps me then jumps on contact) so i land at 0 and wait for the jump. nothing. suddenly webbd nueted and violenced by concord all over the place lol only to see I HAD SOMEHOW GOTTEN RED GCC WHILE IN WARP (or something). dont get me wrong i dont care about the damn blackbird it was just an old ship with **** fitting but id really like to know the logic behind adding a mechanic like this. i was simply warping from gate to gate not even bouncing off celestials or anything or aggressing anyone. so if someone can please explain the mechanic of randomly being gcc'd in a system while simply in warp from gate to gate id greatly appreciate it. thanks

Pretty sure that is not a mechanic. Are you sure you didn't accidentally trigger something?

im positive. just right clicked and hit jump on destination gate. it happened before in a raven one time that i actually got back because i petitioned and told ccp that i hadnt done a thing. (which i honestly didnt i was trying to move it asap and it just happened to get gcc for no apparent reason)

but this one i didnt petition it was just a blackbird and i dont even fly ewar lol so it doesnt matter its just the mechanic i dont understand. im very positive i did nothing other than be in the system (from coming from the last system), decloaked and warped to gate and when i landed i couldnt jump because of a sudden red gcc i had somehow acquired. very odd : /

Did you pass through a CONCORD owned system? In those systems CONCORD is the faction police and your sec-status is your standing with them. And I notice that you have -9.7 security status.

I made this mistake once. Automatically went GCC when I entered the system and lost a frigate.

This. I lost a 'Cane to CONCORD in their systems. It's like one constellation in Genesis, IIRC.

Yep faction police are pretty easy to avoid until you transgress on a concord owned system. Then concord becomes the faction police for that system and poof goes your ship.

You thought those faction police were all idiots? Well most are but not the concord boys in blue.

Plus you might have been hit by a bit of lag at the same time so you missed the warp in of concord and maybe the warning message. Not that it would have made any difference if you had seen it, just you would have understood better what did happen.

I was under the impression that CONCORD in the Genesis constellation behaves the same as any other faction police (with the exception of GCC of course).

Unless that is a recent change, that would be incorrect. Lost a fleet stabber to that area once, not realizing it was a CONCORD 1.0 system.

You'll get messages on your screen informing you about in-game events.

If you miss them, you can always refer to your Log and see what happened.

On the bright side this is all to be obsolete soon anyway.

It does indeed sound like you were victimized by CONCORD when you passed through their faction space. This is an odd quirk of the game mechanics that, as is said, will be somewhat obsolete once Crimewatch changes go out with Retribution.

If you weren't traveling through CONCORD space when you lost your ship, I would suggest a petition.

A god bet this is what happened. If so, his "crime" was being a dude with a warrant out for his arrest who decided to talk a stroll....through a police station......

Did you check your cargo holds for illegal contraband? Drugs, etc, etc...
I know they usually just give you a warning and reduce your security status and make you pay fines. What if your sec status was already low and then it dropped you below a certain point which threw CONCORD in to a fit of rage? I have not had this happen myself but I know of allys and friends that it has happened to. Not sure if they got a GCC though...

I've gained GCC in High sec without doing anything, in the past and it wasn't in Concord space.

Just accepted it as a quirk and part and parcel of being neg 10 tbh.

I think you're right. Isn't there like a threshold if your sec status drops below a certain point, you can't really go through hisec safely. Isn't like below -2.0 or -5.0 or something like that?

Game mechanics. Someone managed to get your aggression by circumventing in game aggression mechanics. This happens every day at Jita undock, you have barely loaded grid there are already 10 guys shooting at you without even triggering concord response. There are also some "bugs" but...

As stupid as it is and it looks like, it's Eve.

Well there are levels depending upon the system sec, but normally it's only the faction police that attack. Hence why some have mentioned Concord in their own space.

You would fit whatever you travel in for speed and agility, but that one time I simply seemed to gain GCC out of the blue.

As I don't spend much time in High sec with this char, I accepted it and moved on.

It sometimes happens when you're going through Highsec for like 10j's

Suddenly you can't jump and you get killed.....
