Hi!

Im going to buy a MacBook Pro Retina 15" (16Gb RAM) in a couple of days and the last thing to keep me from buying it is that i cant really find anything about EVE performance on it.

Im wondering what FPS people get (with maxed out settings) at 1900x1200 and 1680x1050.

Thanks in advance!

I haven't tested FPS, but i have a maxed out rMBP as well and I have no problem running Eve at max settings at those resolutions, or even at better resolutions hooked up to my Thunderbolt display. I also run 3 windowed clients at once at full settings with little issue other than heat. I would recommend installing smcFanControl if you run into that, and just crank up the fans to max while you run Eve. That said, I definitely have many more heat issues running GW2 at even medium settings.

I have the base rMBP mode and i have no performance issues.

There are other issues:
- black screen
- os freeze (it happened twice)
- socket errors (but i blame these on my connection ... altough they did happen when i was running windows)
- heating

This guy seems to be having no problems other than heat.

Retina Macbook Pro and Eve.

There is some issues with the retina MBP's though, after seeing this my nephew decided to try out his and it also ran very hot, Apple did replace it though, his is a 15" entry level with a 256Gb SSD 8Gb of ram.

Still wont put me off buying one tbh, but I'll wait for the next update as I bought a 17" MBP last year after convincing myself I would spend the cash, only for the retina MBP's to hit the shelves 7 months later.

My timing is made of win......Roll

Thanks for the tip on the smcFanControl. I've got a 15" rMBP with 16GB RAM and a 2.6GHz and have really enjoyed the smoothness of playing EVE on it, though it does seem to run hot. I had a glitch boot me out of the game when I was in a station checking on items for sale... no big deal, but this would stink if I was in combat. Haven't had that happen yet.

I have a rMBP 15" with 8GB of memory, and I haven't had any problems with it until very recently. I started getting dramatically lower frame rates (~7-10) very recently. It does run really hot, too, and the "whisper quiet" fan makes a lot of noise when this happens.

Enter grid and you're already dead, destined to be reborn and fight another day.

Well, before i start EVE i always turn the fans at maximum with smcFanControl :)
Without that, the temperature goes to almost 100 celsius ... With fans at max, it is a bit under 90 celsius.

I would rather hear the noisy fans and not have the CPU melting lol.

I'm wondering if Apple will replace it now, a couple of months after i bought it :P
