Also nice changes. I really like the new targets. Higher resolution and much easier to compare to your own "bars" at a glance.

I like the new camera tracking but i agree, there really needs to be a toggle key for the feature. Attention

not tested on the servers yet but looks like some feedback was taken into account. Good to see that happen. Looking forward to. Big smile

Although these changes are great, the fact remains that brackets in general (which are required for competetive play) completely undermine the beatiful visuals this game has, especially in long range combat, as well as all combat involving frigates.

is there any chance the bracket system could ever be redisigned so as to display a coloured bracket outside the perimeter of the ship (basically square/circle scaled to fit) rather than directly overtop?

this would, for me, help with immersion, and also assist in people who are interested in the game understand what's happening during gameplay videos.

There is not a default toggle key but you can assign any unused key on your keyboard to act as a toggle. I’ve used my # key as that seems to be unused by any other key combination that I can find.

really looking forward to this...

Is it me, or does "Angel Impaler" sound like an Adult Film Star's screen-name?

Also, loved the blog. Snorted my way thru a morning coffee reading this! :D

Sorry for my simple language
but I like this UI

The little icons in the bottom are frigate put Disruptor and Webifier on player...and there are enough space for others effects.
And duplicate on top player ship shield indicator, if target is not active/locked.

Hey guys, it's great that your desire is to improve things. Not sure if this is 100% improvement though.

Red and white is definitely a good idea... better contrast over your lovely new backgrounds.

Circles do not tessellate, but squares do - so are you going to be taking up more screen space with these new targets? EVE's screen is cluttered enough as it is and screen real-estate is precious... always the focus of player attention (to arrange windows and other UI resources to maximise productivity)

Being able to move the notification dialogs around will be great. Nice one.

Tooltips being more informative is nice - but with one BIG, HUGE DEATHSTAR-SIZED BUT!!! They should not obscure our view of the game when we don't want them. I propose the following change to the General Settings options:
The default state is to show the tooltips that you currently show, but after a time delay whose installation default is zero. (i.e. effectively no delay, which is what you have now) However, this can me modified, so that you're not continually dogged by needless tooltips popping up all over the screen as you move the pointer around.

For hardcore users, there are no tooltips at all - unless they are holding down a SHIFT key. When SHIFT is held down, tooltips will pop up with zero delay:

What do you think? Looks like you're making the tooltips physically cover up more screen space in Retribution, so controlling this is becoming more important than ever.

I've had a chance to test this on Buckingham and my overall feedback is positive:

+ The targets' shield/armor/hull condition is visible and identifiable, better than before for color impaired noobs like me.
+ There are ticks for what I presume are 25%/50%/75% of s/a/h which is nice, I don't have to hover anymore.

-While the log information on the HUD is informative and very detailed, I find it distracting. Shooting 4 rats generates a lot of information and it keeps scrolling on my HUD. I don't want to know what happens when you run an anom with 20 rats or are in a fleet battle with 100 people. Either let me move it or only show me some of it.
-When moving the targets to the bottom of the screen, they can overlap with the effects the enemy ships (painters. disruptors etc). Is there a way to move those somewhere else? I'm trying to minimize mouse travel while keeping information on my screen.
-The "safety button" is now overlapping with the lines for s/a/h when displaying that information on the HUD.

Crap. Forgot to comment on the automatic moving of the camera: Please allow us to disable that feature.

Having the camera view jerk around and change my point of view was damn confusing AND for a game where I need to double click in the direction in which I want my ship to travel this is very bad.

Being able to disable the 'focus camera on whatever your mouse may be over in the overview' is critical for those who manually micro-manage their ship's flight path. This is differentiated from those who use "Approach" or "Orbit" as their default means of on-grid navigation.

Yes, you dont need to ask us to put this in, as its been there from the start.
click on the selected item window - the little settings meny - uncheck the checkbox. No more tracking :)

well,
the new targets lock cool, but in think they are too large, i keep my targets right above fire every thing button (F1,F2,F3 ....) and I got trouble see range and things on target used (web, point ...). Maybe somehow put them on top of target, of include such option.

Is it possible to use the tracking camera without having the target locked? For example, can you apply this camera setting to the "Look at " function?

The tracking works on any selected item. Like gates, stations, wrecks, cloaking ships, etc.

But do you have to have that target locked?

-SIGH-

I can not believe while the game is still making us run TEN YEAR OLD MISSIONS you would waste time on this crud.

We need more ways to find a quick fight between family activities... six hour missions just do not cut it.

Do you guys actually PLAY this game???

Sorry to rain on your parade, but improved targeting, blinkier lights and more color in the messages is not going to keep this game fresh and, well, playable.

Come on, devs! Develop a better game, quit polishing the knobs!!!

UI devs are not game designers? They won't be spending time designing missions. Maybe UI related to missions...oh wait, they just put new UI for missions being shown on your overview like a month ago.

You don't have to have it locked.
