These are less like officer mods, and more like deadspace level. Yet since they drop from specific hosts, its the best way to classify them, specially when drone stuff isn't size related except DCUs. So standard variations like Gistii,Gistum,Gist wouldn't work.

One thing I wish they would do is offer augmented drone bpcs of logistic and e-war drones that are worth a damn. Imagine a web drone that's actually useful?

As for a Rogue Drone LP store and missions, well... They're AIs with a completely alien mindset who do things like wear people as flesh costumes. I don't think you'd be able to get along with them.

Though I'm sad one of the Rogue Drone officers isn't Orphyx.

Thats sad i was hopping they would be like the Cylons in BSG where the lonely scientist acts like Baltar...

Something like the drones want to use pod pilots to help them get some ancient tech that will let them unleash thier maniacal plans...

Legend has it they do use pod pilots.. by absorbing them and harvesting their organs.

And they aren't merely Gallente tech, they are hybridized with Sleeper drones and have Jove tech. Compare the giant drone hives with the Jovian Constructs for example.

Name them in Russian. The rogue drones have evolved to mimic the capsuleers living in there space.

I'm led to believe that the fights over the drone regions were some of the best in EVE. I would have thought this was more likely with a "storyline aspect" and new Drone Mods.

I just looked at the Officer drone damage amplifier. The T2 version now does +23% damage. The officer ones top out at +24.0455%. The gain it tiny. As such they will have a value that is only a little higher than the T2 version. Not much of a boost for Null sec.

Lets compare that to another damage mod: Gyrostabs

Gyro: T1: +7%, T2: +10%, Best Faction: +12.5%, Best Officer: +15%
Drone damage amp: T1: +16%, T2: +23%, Best faction: N/A, Best Officer: +24.0455

For a similar progression the best officer one should be at +32% or so.

Yeah, they're pretty terrible. I have a feeling the current values aren't exactly placeholder though...

thats the thing though for me rogue drones mods should not be limited to just drone mods... Personally they should get some nifty implants and other usefull mods... like faction RR or something that currently is limited in variations.... like scripts... i think rogue drone scripts would be a great addition to the game...

you see they are truely the real Aliens in EVE... Completly hostile to our very existance... they use people for spare parts like we used to use thier alloys to build our ships...

I am sure there is some locutus out there running the show... And he is the one who is sending the drones all over the cluster to look for some tech left in space and planets to build some sort of machine for maniacal purposes...

Rouge & rogue are seperate words entirely. Pointing out the error & helping you as a result is not trolling at all. He did you a favour & you should be thanking him you nasty troll.

I'm sorry, but this is awesome.

Minus the "Officer Drone Control Unit". I understand why CCP didn't give them +2 drones per unit, cause well lets face it, 5 turns into 10, and 30 Fighter Bombers per Supercap would just be a bit op.

I suggest that since these Officer mods don't affect capitals that CCP add Fighter Bonuses & Fighter Bomber Bonuses to them.

Increase to speed, damage, agility, sig reduction, etc.

It's high time CCP actually balanced the Fighters & Fighter Bombers. The Shadow Fighter Bomber is actually not that great, especially for the cost of building 20 of them. You'll pay nearly 4billion for BPC runs, each drone is worth 300m.

So, what say you, CCP? Release Skills, modules, etc that will give supers & carriers the ability to increase their drone dependency.

Also, since drone mechanics suck balls, fix those too.

Last but not least, I wouldn't mind two modules being added in.

Drone Link Extender - Increases the amount of bandwidth you can have (Cruiser Class - battleship class).
Drone Bay Extender - Increases your drone bay (IF you have one to start with).
Rig Versions as well please.

These items would be beneficial, it would change fits, etc..

CCP, give Gearbox/2K a call and ask if we can name them after CL4P-TP Big smile

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

yeah i second that... any news on when we can test these? i know they are on bucki but they are not seeded to the market... so its hard to test thier effectiveness...

though vincent is right... 24.0455% is way way way too low...

how is it too low?
faction damage mods for guns. 12.5% & officer damage mods a whole whopping 15%.
turret damage mods get a 2.5% range of from faction to tier 14 ( officer )

drone damage mods out do that full stop.

OK CCP you guys said that you were going to do something with the drones for retribution... like add mod drops or something like that...

Dec 4th is only 3 weeks away but yet we haven't heard anything about this other then there is a dev blog being written about it...

Any news on if/when this elusive blog will come out?

I just hope it does not take too long to get this out as i would like to try this out on the test server before release...

I am hopping for some cool stuff from faction drops and officer drones...

edit:
here is the List of new Drone mods

I hate to say it but I don't think they really thought these mods through properly.

Lets go down the list by type:

Drone Link Augmentor: Who cares, these are virtually never used.

Drone Control Unit: The ships that primarily fit these have plenty of powergrid and CPU, so buying a super expensive one is a non starter.

Drone Navigation Computer: See Drone Link Augmentor

Drone Damage Amp: This may actually be useful, but I could see it never being used due to high costs and the future drone changes making PVE drones a giant pain in the ass. The ships that these would do well on regardless tend to use a type of drone that isn't affected by amps: Fighters and Fighter Bombers.

Omnidirectional Tracking Link: These on the other hand are the mods I think that will end up getting the best sales. But they share the drone damage amp problems.

I'm going to pitch my hat into the ring with some of the others and say that drones should drop interesting meta rigs in their complexes.

living in the drone regions my self.

me and at least two others in corp all think the same thing

these "changes" will not do a damn thing for the drone regions because ccp will fail at buffing drone space.

its in need of the following.

random loot drops in wrecks
better complex's namely 1,4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 ded ratings. with some semi good drops to make up for the lack of dead space mods.
escalations that are similar to other null sec regions.
