Used in low sec, I am heading to low sec for ratting in an assault frig but and I plan on either a Caldari or gallente frig what would be my most likely attacker, a wolf or some other type of tackling frig, would warrior II be help if tackled by an inty or is eccm the way to go?
I plan on a rail set up rather then blasters so I can reach out.

Hey piug...why are you asking difficult questions, just never mind that low sec you hear.

You'll see a lot of...

Incursus (short range, supertanking brawling frig)
Merlin (same as above, but with shields)
Navy Slicer (hard hitting, kiting ships with high speed and low tank)
Hookbill (souped up Merlin that uses rockets)
Harpy (souped up Merlin that can also be fitted for range)
Dramiel (versatile frigate that also happens to be one of the fastest of its class)
Thrasher (not a frigate, but one of the more common "small ships" you'll see... can be fitted for close range brawling or ranged alpha-striking)

The list goes on.

You're asking a very open-ended question. Giving specifics on what kind of ship you want to be running it would help... as you'll run into many different types of things during a roam... and each ship is strong against certain other ships while being weak against others.

While belt ratting isn't really profitable, it is still handy for getting your sec up. It's easier in null sec once through the choke points but if I was to go on a roam to rat up sec I would most likely take an Enyo since you can have a 100% PvP oriented fit and still take down high-end BS rats with relative ease.

The same philosophy extends to ratting for ISK of course, although there are far more profitable activities. It sounds like you are doing it more for sport than for profitability though, in which case I tip my hat to you.

When playing the victim, AB and rails can be surprisingly effective.

Keep in mind that if you are belt ratting, you will run into a lot more than just frigates. You will likely see drakes, 'canes, any number of cruisers, etc, all looking to separate your pod from your assault ship. Whatever ship you bring, PVP fit it, learn how to D-scan, and know what you can fight and what you should run from.

Ok thanks, yeah I'm not ratting for profit im hoping to get shot at and see how it goes.
Most likely the same as it always had 0 wins many losses but you never know but anyone who loses to me geezus they stink at PVP.

Cap Stable Vengeance with armor reppers will outlast a ASB Merlin.

I say Vengeance since it is my fav ship in the game. So I might be biased here.

One of the most tanky AF's in the game will outlast a t1 frig? No wai..

Also you said that wrong, one should not under any circumstances put more then one rep on the veng -_-

Ok, looking at some fits online people seem to agree that anything with rockets is a fail, so it seems popular fits are mostly auto cannon based, and that vengeance is tankyBig smile.

Don't be an idiot. The vengence with rockets is a beast.

Your info is several years outdated.

A lot of that anti-rocket nonsense is probably dated commentary from back when they were LOLROTF-ockets. They're pretty damned good these days.

Let me find my favourite current enyo fit for you (you wanted gallente right?)

[Enyo, mwd rep null 4.7+4.4 import 1]
Internal Force Field Array I
Small Armor Repairer II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator

Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Small 'Knave' Energy Drain

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator II

Warrior II x1

You can do a similar fit cheaply like so...

[Enyo, mwd rep null 4.7+4.4 import 1]
Pseudoelectron Containment Field I
Small 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Limited 1MN MicroWarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator

Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Antimatter Charge S
Small 'Knave' Energy Drain

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

Warrior II x1

It might need high fitting skills and advance weapon upgrades V and if so, swap one gun for an ion blaster. The idea is that with null, you can hit to kitting range even with blasters and its relatively cheap and effective and you can rat up sec in it and still pack a punch versus a large variety of targets. If something turns up that you dont want to engage then of course you can just run away. If you get tackled on a gate by a camp you can at least try to burn back to the gate and get out.

EDIT: Ignore the ammo type in that fit. Rat with either antimatter charge s or void but pvp with null loaded and if you think the will come close range then load faction antimatter. If you are feeling brave versus larger hulls then you can always load void.

I only did once... but that was in a fight against 2 wolfs and a SB. I was so impressed with that setup. Although yes... most common fit for me is my Vengeance with 1 repper I lovingly call Black Sunshine.

And op.. anybody that said rocket ships are bad.... don't know what they are talking about, these are the same people that has an automated reply of fly minmatarr when somebody asks for PVP how to.

Cloaky Tengu for Nullsex ratting. You can make tons of ISK belt hopping and popping BAttleships/Faction loot dropping ships.

Not a Frigate but close enough.

I see allot of kiting mwd frigates with and without tds.

Make sure you can catch or hit one or otherwise counter it.

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815
