Possible work around for EVE Voice DC's

After hours of randomly trying to figure out why, very occasionally EVE Voice would let me stay connected, when 90% of the time i was DC'd immediately after Voice going active, I think i have narrowed it down.

This may be CCP fixing it, and me being a nub thinking that im doing something productive but thought it may help someone out there.

If you join a voice channel in station and then immediately undock as soon as voice goes active, ie the litte speaker icon appears, i have never been DC'd after joining voice this way. Jumping with gang (+40) people tended to cause a DC, so i tend to wait for a few seconds to let everyone jump through before following.

This doesn't prevent voice from randomly logging you out of voice or being semi useless as it always has done, but at least now you can stay in fleets.

Anyway, like i said, this may have nothing to do with why it had stopped me DC'ing, but it works for me and hopefully for you to if its still causing you any grief.

I think it is something else happening here which involves cider. I don't always get a DC. But what does happen now for me is if I plug in headphones with a mic to talk on EVE Voice while the client is running. I'm unable to use my mic at all. It wont work on TS3, Skype or anything it's very odd, and is certainly connected to EVE.

Oh and we used a little officer mods. KIDDING! We used a lot of officers mods, A LOT! Because we don’t :censored: around in low-sec.

Don't know if this brings anything to the table or not- I use the built in mic, I've never lost the connection when using the built in mic. The only time I get the "You have been logged out of audio chat" is when I'm not using it.

I can't use my built in mic while running the client. I have to run my fans at max or I get CPU temps of around 97 degrees. The side effect is when I push to talk, all your going to hear is the sound of my fans.

Another trick i use to avoid the "not the good time to get DC, what the hell i'm in a pod" situation is that i always join voice corp chan or an empty chan to test stability and then get involved in gangs or whatever.

I do the the "You have been logged out of audio chat" when using the built in mic, so that is not a general case fix.

I've been having a horrible time with eve voice chat and actually TS 3 for the last few weeks, so I can't necessarily blame the eve voice disconnects on the Eve client. After the last update from Mac I haven't had a problem disconnecting from either one for the last 2 days. Running the new 27" iMac with built in mic and I do use the built in mic. I guess when i start running incursions again tonight I'll see if my luck continues.

Supposedly after talking to a GM there are known d/c issues with Mac client that are suppose to be addressed in the upcoming patch. So I guess if it is working fine for me now I will have to cross my fingers it doesn't become broken once they "fix" it with the new patch.

Have any of you noticed any chance after the release of 1.1.2 ?

That patch had fixes for the EVE Voice issues you describe.

I still get the "you have been logged out of audio chat" message when Im not in a voice channel. It can show up within seconds of logging in.

This can be the result of connectivity issues as well (i.e. some of the required ports being blocked by a firewall or routers). In some rare cases, there can also be some complications if you are using IP telephony through your provider.

Or we can generally have ping of less than 100ms to CCP servers, 50mb down and 15mbit up, no wifi, no blocked ports thru our ISP and definitely no blocked ports in our house and your software is just screwed.

The only telephony in my house is cellular

I can easily run 10 accounts on my mac, I get roughly 30fps on all accounts, I get "Logged out of audio chat" when running 1 or 10, and can happen at all kinds of various times.

To test your connection to the EVE Voice servers and to diagnose if there are any blocked ports anywhere on the route, download this program from Vivox, extract it and run

https://support.vivox.com/download.php

The results will clearly show if there are any ports blocked.

Since 1.1.2, eve voice is better. Eve voice connection is fine to me and my client does not crash anymore. I did test the fix on SiSi, it was fine.

When i get a "log out of audio chat", i can relog again with the appropriate check box in settings tab.

Fix is ok here :)

Yes!!!

I was able to play without a single Voice issue yesterday <3333

This was on TQ, normal RvB fleet combat and no other changes in my setup besides the latest patch.

* Super Happy *

I was using chat during this test (on TQ) so I was not being dropped due to inactivity. Any ideas?

That viox connectivity tester gave me this:

Test type: Locate Interface
Result: Passed

Test type: Test DNS
Result: Passed

Test type: Test STUN
Result: Failed: Cannot contact STUN server on UDP port 3478

I have no idea what that means I need to do. \

I returned to EVE a week ago (after a six month break). I noticed I was getting a lot of Logged out of Audio Chat disconnects. It was a little irritating as I had not had the problem months ago.

The newest patch made things much worse. I was constantly getting disconnected. This was happening even though I wasn't even using any of the EVE chat features.

I disabled audio chat and the problem has been completely eliminated.

Of course this solution is no good if you want to use audio chat.

EDIT: FORGET EVERYTHING I SAID ABOVE. I am once again constantly being disconnected. Only now I don't get the logged out of voice chat message. Very frustrating.

If one of the tests if failing it either means that your firewall ( router or software ) is blocking the port. I'd check both your software and router firewall to see if this is the case.

Hepius

Could you download the connectivity tester as well to see if there's anything blocking things on your side as well.

I still was getting "logged out of voice chat" the last day I logged in. I never actually tried EvE voice as we have mumble.
