Just got Astrometrics 5 and started using Sister Deep Space Probes. I looked at the swift and bitter scanning guide. When i use the probe (at 256 AU) is get returns that say "Structure" and has a sig res of .58 and some at .27. The .27 are in the range i want but when i go to scan spot with my Sister Core Probes it does not pick it up.

My scan probe strength is 14 by the way with good skills.

Any advice?

Yup. When it says "structure" it means just that: you're looking at the sig of a POS structure. You can't pin those with core probes, only deep space and combat probes.

What you want to look for are "cosmic signatures". You can safely ignore structures -- unless you're scanning down a POS for some reason.

Yea once you start using deep space probes is about the time to start setting up filters.

Many systems will contain no Signatures, so structures would be the only thing for your scanners to pick up.

Core probes only see Signatures and Anomalies

DSP and Combat probes see Signatures and Anomalies as well as Structures and Ships.

You might also want to look at the wiki, it has more accurate data on signature strength and is more frequently updated:

Yes, though it's easy enough to ignore chaff. I usually have my results sorted by scan group then sig strength. This puts anoms first on the list, which lets me check the downtime ID tag (likely to be on the majority of anoms) and then scroll to see sig strengths on the signatures. Then I simply select the few I want to pin and ignore the rest. Pretty neat and clean.
