approaching EVE's 10th birthday, a retrospective might also be nice. Go back to the archives and find out what people were saying 10 years ago, what their hopes and aspirations were for themselves and EVE, then get the same input from people now and see how things match up.

At the risk of being unpopular, I'm going with "dead and buried". Even though I realize it's most likely totally not true. After all, Ultima Online is still alive in a sense.

There's just too much about the game that is already badly outdated, and keeps getting more and more outdated year after year. Good examples being drones, drone UI, D-scan and its functionality, etc. New things are being added, such as PI, but such a tiny sliver of the population partake in it, and fewer still actually enjoy it, that it probably wasn't worth the time it took to implement in the first place. Following this paradigm, the future just looks bleak to me. Further, when things are being added to the game that almost nobody asked for, and they're being added in a broken state (like the upcoming NPC AI change, which is...well...broken), it doesn't help.

But hey, that's just me. I've always been a glass-is-half-empty guy.

The sad part is, I still feel like this game could have been so much more by now, if only some factions didn't cling to silly, outdated features. Had the game been modernized, adding things that are pretty much a standard for the industry, I feel it could have been far bigger than it currently is. Good example of this? Fonts and font sizes. When was the last time you saw a serious MMO where you couldn't change font size? In most, you can change the font as well. Most popular current MMO has a fully customizable UI and fonts. Coincidence? Possibly, but I doubt it.

Eve is dying because font size? That's a new one!

We will all be hooked up to virtual reality machines and playing through them. The door in the CQ will open, revealing a corridor with another door at the end saying "coming soon." And finally, as a carry on from burn jita, the burn chribba event is carried out, where the veldnaught gets alpha'd away and a permanent wreck is left in place.

This one's a bit over the edge guys.

Locked for breaking... well, pretty much all the rules.

If we havent had somekind of computing revolution by that time i will be disappoint in the human race.

Im gonna go with dead a s door nob unless they pull off total conversion of the code.

Hopefully EvE 2 will be out by then and you can transfer the char to keep the SP.

But ccp didnt have sparkling vampires in production 10 years ago when eve was born so who knows tbh.

I hope EvE will be around in some form.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

If Eve is still around this is what I predict.

They might get around to opening that freaking door in the station, doubt it though.

Goons will be dead by than, gone the way of BoB.

Who knows they might actually release T3 BS or Frigs by than, though I am not holding my breath. I'd settle for ships to be rebalanced after they rebalance it this time around.

More threads on how T2 BPO's need to be removed from game.

New record high on scam that makes most gaming mags/news sites wonder WTF are we on (again) to keep playing a game where such activity is allowed.

We finally stop telling people to go back to WoW or hello kitty online is that a way and is replaced with something else.

Rifter will STILL be my favorite ship.

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

In ten years the fun of flying around in ships will not be enough and Eve will have had to expand their wis to planets and have out of ship content for the avatars to engage in and grow with, and as stated before, Gallente will still be ugly and worthless. There will be new uses for Plex, like buying training time for a second character on the account for a month as the accounting department struggles to keep up with all the new free to play games flooding the market. But the absolute worst thing is, I will be 10 years older Cry

In ten years null- and low-sec will still suck compared to high-sec as far as income because CCP will never nerf high-sec and will continue to make safety upgrades, so aside from (possibly) more people in wormholes due to the coming POS revamp and realistic risk/reward nothing much will have changed. Also, inflation will be terrible (whoever made that brilliant PLEX remark earlier probably isn't that far off the mark) so newbies who don't have bitter vet friends will have a very rough time of it. This also has the side effect of vastly shortening high-sec subscriber turnover, also in part due to PvE being the same old grind despite CCP's best intentions because some idiots whined about their drones and a rebalancing of their favorite weapons system. Carebears will still be willfully ignorant of their destructive effect on the economy and will bleat loudly on the forums at any suggestion of change no matter how well though-out or sensible the idea is. Ganking will be impossible and there will be a selective opt-out switch for bumping. Furtive suggestions will be made about bringing CONCORD to low-sec and putting gate and station guns in NPC null to make things safer and appease the carebears who want to feel courageous for venturing into "dangerous" areas.

CCP has no sense of humour.

For one game to last so long without any major changes seems hard to keep around unless there confident in harvesting a constant supply of new players... that stay...
