I still find this game extremely exciting. There are always new forum posts from people complaining about this or that. I get constant enjoyment from reading them. Wait, you mean there's an actual video game associated with these forums?

So I spent some time doing plexes in FW. I was in a Caldari system, got spotted by a pirate who then proceeded to spend the next 20 minutes chasing me down as I warped to different nav points and systems, trying to shake him off! Crazy! In the end I died, but what disturbed me was the relentless pursuit, as if I spat on his mother's grave.

It was WEIRD. It felt like I was being chased by a Reaver from Serenity or something.

When I fly in low sec, I'm in a Vigil with 3x warp stabs and 3 x low friction nozzles. These days I only get popped via smart bombs or when I'm trying to be smart and ninja loot/salvage T2 wrecks at a gate camp e.g. Amamake. Looking around the wreckage in Amamake, though, most other ships don't survive gate camps.

Yeah, I remember you now... So instead of salvaging in your "soon to be dead" vigil on the gate in Amamake, just take a pvp fregate and warp to top belt, you will have pvp.

Self-confessed carebare here. Sometimes I like to explore low sec for a change of pace but meh, it seems to be an all-or-nothing proposition. You either get insta-popped at a gate camp or you can spend many hours in low sec up to a point where it almost feels like high sec.

But there's nothing inbetween. No close calls. No brushes with death. I thought about solo PVP but I get the feeling it'll be the same thing - hours upon hours spent looking for viable targets, just to get insta-popped by a gate camping blob.

I heard about RvB but that seems kinda lame.

I'm thinking of training up exploration and doing cloaky. ninja stuff in WH or null sec. Is this viable or am I wasting my time?

I do appreciate the oppurtunity to throw out one of my favorite EVe Truisms: EVe is a sandbox, if you are in a sandbox but not having fun, it's not the sand's fault".

I've been playing EVE for more than 5 years and though I've "lived" in null for 3 and a half of those years, I'm still primarily a pve player/ I've done every kind of "pew pew" pve there is, missions, incursions, anomalies and complexes, Belt Ratting, cosmos, Events, you name it. I just recently moved to "Blood Raider" space after being away from it for almost 2 years and re-learning how to tank rats that neutralize your can and how to survive in those super nasty Blood Complexes has been a lot of fun. When it stops being as much fun there are still other things to go and do, and new things on the Eve horizon.

And you're wrong about low sec. Every time time i go into low sec it's a close call, but then again I never have to deal with gate camps because i use a scout.

I prefer Eve when it isn't being interesting personally. Eve is where I come to chill out in my little corner with my corp and generally try to ignore the rest of Eve until it suits me.

Nul-Sec is good for this.

I couldn't disagree more. They say there is no right or wrong way of playing eve but I think you might actually be playing it wrong. Right off the bat you say you're a carebear and that you're bored. See... that right there is an obvious contradiction. You see... You aren't taking enough risks.

I'm the type of pilot that makes magic happen. I'm not trying to sound conceited but it's true. I take risks and get rewards because of them. I have 10-20 close calls and brushes with death a day! Ask anyone who's flown with me, I make **** happen. I live by the philosophy that "If you're bored, you aren't taking big enough risks" and every time I'm bored I try to push the envelope. I try to come up with some crazy ass thing for me and my eve friends to do and I'm never bored because of it.

I truly believe that I can get away with saying this because I know I'm not the only one of my kind. Half the people responding to this post are the real deal. This is what happens when you take a creative mind and put it in the context of Eve online. A creative mind sees possibilities, comes up with experiments, tries out stupid ideas... because why not?

All around me I see players who don't take risks. They buy expensive ships and turtle wax them. They mission endlessly and they complain that they're bored. It's silly. They would never hop in a 40 mil cruiser and go solo in nullsec. The idea seems impossible to them. Now... it's not that these people are stupid. On the contrary, they're quite smart, but they lack creativity and they simply can't see the possibilities that I see. Or they have creativity and fear the risk involved with their ideas. But I say **** that. This is a video game. Do stupid ****--it will be worth it, what are you really risking? Time? Get blown up more, it's not like you can actually get a "game over" in eve. Life goes on in the form of an eternal montage.

So with all this said I probably look like a cocky bastard... maybe I am. Personally I think I'm just confident, and when you fly with a little confidence, a little creativity; if you allow yourself to come up with ideas, you can really do amazing things in this game. Basically what I'm saying is don't hate the player, hate the game--cuz you're clearly approaching it wrong. You need to change your mentality if you want to have more fun. You need to think like a boss if you want to "win" at eve. Cuz, eve is like life. Everyone is competing for success, you have to do something different to get it! It's the only game of its kind.

So for starters:

-Review your fight-finding methods: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kMwU-J_NjE
-Start building CHEAP ships in BULK, fly with confidence knowing you can use your piece of **** to kill things that cost 10x as much. When you fly expensive ships you fly with less confidence unless if you're in a bling fleet! If you die in your cheapo shitbox, you've got 9 more waiting in your hangar! Get back out there!
-Come up with more imaginative schemes and experiments
-Be a problem solver not a problem creator
-Whenever you feel bored in eve either log off and go do something else, or come up with something batshit crazy to do!
-Watch more solo PVP videos to see what exactly it takes to solo

The entire world of eve is constantly hustling and bustling with activity. Ponder this: there is ALWAYS pvp happening in Eve. There is ALWAYS something to do in Eve. If you can't find ANYTHING to do... just log off. If you think about it this way the game is perfect. It will never disappoint you, you can only disappoint yourself! Clearly what you're missing here is simply a pep talk, so I hope you read this and get what I'm trying to put across. You are a freaking space pilot. Isn't this what you always wanted ever since you were a little kid and saw/read your first science fiction? What did you expect to do with this great honor? What would you do if you really were in space? Be one of the colonists that get captured by Sansha and turned into a robot chicken? Or be one of the few, the proud, the capsuleers; who defy the laws of physics and mortality and who's power knows no bounds.

Welcome to Eve Online

TLDR: You make eve what it is.

In answer to the threads title question, no Eve day. I guess I hope CCP actually fixes the game instead of introducing more broken expansions. I don't dislike the game, I just hope it gets fixed.

I just turned into an egg, did I level up? I spent an hour trying to salvage a wreck, when in local a guy said "Stop it, this is my Tempest, I was AFK"

Yah, I've been in FW for a few days now. It's sorta fun trying to dodge the gate camps, pirates and what-not.

The excitement you feel for the game is affected by your wallet. Once you have a couple hundred billion in isk and assets, what is there left to strive for? What?

Oh sure, there are a few people who are driven to have more, more more, but that is an addiction, not normal gameplay. The average person just wants enough to do what he wants. What is the point of grinding isk beyond that?
PvP is decent at gang level, but it's still a matter of finding a target(s) you can handle, and avoiding the ones you can't, I've gone on roams where you didn't get a fight for 2 hours.
Fleet level pvp is a boring joke, waiting hours to hopefully get a fight, then either blueballing due to numbers, or getting blueballed due to numbers. Then when you do get a fight it's F1 until you die Lol.....

I didn't mention PvE, since PVE is really just a way to make isk...nothing more. If you no longer need isk, PVE is simply a time waster.

The thrill is gone baby.......Cool

No.

High sec war mechanics are broken (and i'm not talking about perma decs, they need a full overhaul, actually make people WANT to fight, defend, whatever.).
Low sec combat mechanics are pointless, kill people for a good fight without a reprecussion or consistent reward.
Null sec war mechanics are the same and have been for the last x years. (pick a number between 1 - 1,000,000, either way it'll still be the same grind as always)
ISK grinding is dull and unchallenging, and the risk / reward ratio is entirely off. - I'm looking at you, 0.0, Incursions, Wormholes. Sad
The playerbase is stagnated. Those that want to play EVE, do, those that don't, don't. What?
The game has no new innovations - Woo, NEW DESTROYERS. big whoop. I'm not asking for NEW Content, i prefer polish over pointless fluff any day, but at least when you try polish something do it right and not half assed. Roll

I have little reason to play anymore, i find other games far more entertaining. I'm waiting for star citizen in the hopes that it wont coddle its players (here's to hoping), DOTA 2 as it requires skill and attention and Mech Warrior Online for a little bit of instant gratification.

Since EVE decided to "FIX" things, they've made good decisions on things that need fixing (war dec mechanics, null sec grinding mechanics, etc.) but executed them TERRIBLY, time and time again. So now, here i sit, cold and bitter browsing the forums once more.

Perhaps you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but perhaps you should also have the kidness to put the damned thing out of misery when it struggles to get up the stairs. Players are quitting this game, slowly and surely, because it just doesn't entertain anymore, I have many an old friend/corp mate/alliance mate who would agree to that.
