Player Owned Structure Reinforce Timers

Thought I would bring this one up for discussion. Not sure it has been as yet (let me know if there is another thread) but here goes... :)

Player owned structures like POS's use stront to determine the time the structure goes into reinforce for... POCOs on the other hand allow you to choose a time.

Has CCP been looking at making all player owned strcutures behave like POCOs? If so, what was the outcome and why?

Obviously this idea would be stupid.

POCO - 25% shield down - reïnforced - becoming vulnerable after reinforced timer - shield drops to 0 hitpoints.

Amarr control Tower = 40mil shield
Caldari control Tower = 50mil shield

In your situation where POS behaves like POCO, Caldari towers are unfairly treated as they will drop more shields than the Amarr one. Amarr drops 10mil, Caldari drops 12,5mil.
Amarr has more EHP left after reinforced is over than Caldari, seems kinda unfair.

Control tower - 25% shield down - reïnforced - becomes vulnerable after stront runs out - shield does not drop. Seems ok to me as it is.

I may be mistaken although I've taken a number of POCOs and from I remember I still needed to shoot the remainder of shields after the reinforce disapearred...

I also dont see how this reflects on the suggestion that it may be better to be able to choose the reinforcement timer. This would allow alliances to defend POS's in their own primetime...

No a POCO will have 0% shield when it comest out, but goes into reinforce at 25%.

Then maybe you should chance that sentence to:

"Has CCP been looking at making all player owned strcutures reïnforced timer behave like those on POCOs?"

And yes they do go to 0%, but as shield recharges fast they will start to recharge as soon as the timer stops. If you won't be there at the exact moment the timer ends, you can be sure some shield has been recharged already.

And in a way alliances can make that decision. As soon as their POS is being attacked they can remove or add stront just enough to exit reïnforced mode at the required time.
