Here's a question : is it possible to travel between two systems without using a gate?

or blackops and covert cyno. Still need cannot be done in hisec, though.

Set your medical to your destination station and either get podded or selfdestruct. Works fine for low skills FW mission whores or cyno alts.

Jumping to Cynos

All three of these seem to contradict "No".

Using a weapon as a deterrent in a diplomatic situation is only viable when you have proven that you have deployed it in the past and are willing to use it in the future.

Those are all fine ways to get from one system to the next, but you're always in one system or the other, never between them. Cool

I know if you run the numbers it would take an impossibly long time to fly between any two systems even with the fastest of ships, but is it theoretically possible? Probably not, but idk... (yells) DEVS?!?!

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

Not possible. The gates are needed to register session changes between systems. Even if you got to the next system you wouldn't register as being there because you are technically in the first one still.

I'm not dev, but I think no. First, I can hardly imagine what amount of computation power should servers have to handle unified coordinates. Second, I believe that people used to fly quite deep in space using certain glitches. They even got to Jove space (in terms of how far they were from the sun neighbouring Jove space they jumped to prior to starting going deeper). Yet technically they never left local, nebulas never shifted, they never left original system. Think their position was still "System N, coordinates (X, Y, frekhuegZ)".

I seem to remember someone did this a very long time ago, before the Nano/speed nerfs (or they may have used a bookmark hack). Because of the lack of session state change I believe that there was nothing else there on grid or in space when they arrived.

I dunno... get an MWD, double click on a random star, sit back and see what happens.

Lemme know how it goes, too.

From a lore standpoint, you need something to home in on for warping. Over such a large distance, larger requirements means stargates become necessary. You could accelerate to extremely high speeds and travel as they originally would have (to get to a point to build a gate) but it'd take so long... it's kind of pointless. Need to draw a line between the game and real-life constraints eventually. :)

Assuming you're talking about the conventional way of warping between them not possible as the systems has no borders and therefor cannot register a "system change". You can be put "You are here" on the map on top of another system by flying, however you will still be located in the space of the system you began in.

This might not even be possible anymore due to the removal of deep safes. The systems have in effect been given a max size of the distance from the sun to the most far away celestial + some AU.
