After december, you'll want an alt to be able to it proper because of the changes they are making to the criminal flagging system.

The context of the article refers to lowsec, not nullsec.

The article is also from 2008, and a lot has changed since then (most notably, several lowsec mechanics like FW, the nano nerf, and a lot of balancing). Don't automatically dismiss everything it says, but don't expect it to be 100% accurate information, either.

The new crimewatch system will also add a whole bunch of new mechanics to it, arguably making it more newbie/frigate friendly.

Some of the piracy groups in Eve have training "wings". Look around. With a positive attitude like that, I think they'd be glad to take you in.

I'll drop you a few lines regarding outlawism in highsec.

You can easily live in highsec as -5 or lower.
In space. Not just hiding in station.

Every day, people ask me why CONCORD isn't shooting me,
displaying lack of information about highsec game mechanics.

As outlaw, you only have to "fear" the faction police,
(besides the other players, but that's neglectable)
which spawns after a few seconds, depending on the system sec,
but can be avoided easily by warping around.

As you can make bookmarks mid-warp, you can always be anywhere you want,
as long as you just keep moving and have enough bookmarks around.

No need to hop between celestials. No need to have an orca to dive into ships
in highsec, if you want to gank something. (Using an orca is for noobs)

Remember that, if you're in highsec as outlaw, the best things you can have
are instadock and instaundock bookmarks. (google them!)

Good luck.

Piracy is why i started eve some seven years ago i read the storys on forums about guys scanning belts as they hunt they prey and i was hookef

there many difrent forms of piracy im a losec scumbag and proud

hisec pirate/ can flipper/ninja looter/ emp war dec griefer i av no experiance at this way of piracy so cant hlp u therr

losec solo / spend little time to get to know your chosen hunting ground suss out the locals individuals as well as corps see who are dangaras / book marks and scanner are your friend never use kick out station allways have a insta undock bm and bm all pounce spots around local gates fw areas are cool plenty of fights if you randsom honor it its good for buisness

Losec corp/ best way tbh make new m8s get drunk blow stuff up and die and laugh about it

iv lived all over eve from big sov blocks to npc 0.0 and the best guys iv flown with are losec pvpers corpys tend to share the wealth hlp each other out unlike 0.0 were they cry over a nom or a ded plex

have fun kill them all

  • Lowsec aggression doesn't trigger GCC (or, criminal flag) anymore. This means that warping off stops sentry gun aggression, even if you immediately return. This gives a much lower "barrier of entry" for lowsec gatecamping.
  • The "suspect" flag encourages the random pew pew that the current GCC flag does, but with less consequences in the form of gate guns, or CONCORD hate.
  • This includes more random pew pew in hisec as results of can flipping, possibly with bigger fights escalating as a result of "aid" being rendered on both sides. Killrights also do this.
  • On the flipside, limited engagements allow for more restricted PvP where appropriate.

On the whole, these create an environment friendlier to smaller groups of people in smaller/cheaper ships.

You should read the devblog and draw your own, or hit up the search function for threads discussing this. I do not necessarily agree with all of the above (hence the "arguably" in my post), but it is speculation about winter that I thought someone heading into piracy should be aware of.

I'd recommend joining a pirate corp or alliance to learn the ropes. Even if your end goal is solo piracy, you will learn much faster in an experienced outfit. Even a month and you'll probably learn more than you would in 12 on your own.

If you do decide to go it alone then I recommend looking up tutorials (YouTube is good) on the following

- Directional Scanning
- Gate safety
- Low Sec Agression Mechanics / Timers
- Probing
- Solo PVP
- Gate guns.
- Security status
- Safe spots

Start out in Frigates and then work up to Cruisers. Don't go above that until you are happy of your skills and you are getting kills.

Hi, It really is a great career in EVE!

I've moved your post from General Discussion to Crime and Punishment so you can learn from those who know it best.

  • I don't think you understand how this works now or how a new timer will change anything. How would being able to return to the gate faster lower a barrier to new players?

Crimewave in general only has a couple positive changes but most are a joke and will not help new players do anything but loose more stuff to rules they don't understand, just like now.

Under current mechanics, you can only really tackle on a gate once every 15 minutes in a frigate, unless you have ridiculously good remote repair people.

Piracy died a long time ago.

Its just a bunch of FW guys that not only shoot the opposing faction but everything in between.

Also most "pirate" camps consist of an instalocking camp wth an Orca for safety.

Check out Negative Ten, they camp the gate in instalocking lachesis/huggin/loki with an orca and several, if not a dozen rooks. Piracy no longer exists.

The only orcas found on gates in rancer are turned into little triangles with great speed and efficiency. Please fact check before making accusations :)

Oh and just noticed the speech marks, so a definition for you
