THIS video, I think best describes what some fear the DUST/Eve link will be like.

Thoughts?

I'll go with the latter.

When CCP first announced DUST the EVE players had a collective heart attack because they thought that was what would decide their alliance sov. Big smile

Also, better quality video here.

IMO

Eve/Dust link is going to be superficial at best; If anything it'll only be interacting with FW. Null-sec, WH, High-sec players will likely only know the dusties are there because they can't mute them in channels.

Yea, they will have a hand in FW prices/rewards but even that will likely go largely unnoticed.

Hopefully Dust doesn't fail, makes CCP tons of money, and then if we are lucky enough that CCP Doesn't implode once they have capital. We may see returns in eve.

What do we think of dust?

Seems like a good idea. We'll see how it turns out. I'm sure it will be fine. Before next year is out you will have "Dust is dying"threads all over the forums filled with people pointing out that Dust's activity and number of players is still going up and therefore not dying. Trolls will moan about the Dusties affecting their FW, and the Dusties will moan that the FW people are affecting their matches. The vets will complain about the newbs and the newbs will complain about the vets, things will get nerfed, things will get buffed. Eve players will complain that CCP is spending too much resources on Dust and Dusties will complain that CCP is spending too much resources on Eve.

All will be well with the Eve Universe.

I believe Dust is EVE expansion and it may be interesting if done right. Just temporary Sony exclusive was a mistake along with other wrong decisions made by CCP's management in past.

most of the people i've spoken to about dust that both do and do not play eve have reacted in one of two ways.

"never heard of it"

Personally, I think CCP overextended themselves on Dust, and Eve has paid the price. Sad

Expansion: "the act or process of expanding."

Expansions aren't "Rebalancing" and adding a couple new ships. Expansions are an "Expansion of the game", and it's been a long time since we've seen that.
If fact, the last real expansion may have been adding walking in a box, CCP's well known failure that was years in the making. Lol

Dust adds depth to an already too deep game (At least for the average person).
That and it's limited console release seem to leave it in a bad position to me....
I wouldn't buy a specific console just for that, and the two consoles that I have don't get used at all anymore other than for movies.

Sony has setup CCP for a leveraged buyout....Lol

Based on the way my grandchildren play on their consoles I would give it 3 months before boredom would set in, 6 months maximum before they change to the next big blockbuster.

I’m sorry to say the game will not be ‘now’ enough, they simply do not have the staying power to play a game for the long haul.

All the people I know who have heard of it either
love it
hate it
indifferent
Or are making up the aspects of the game within their mind and are way off base as to what it is really going to offer, both in a worse light or better than it really is.
That covers the community, generally... ignorant. But I blame CCP for general lack of info on the eve side as to what benefits the eve side will receive beyond a FW progress bar and future markets. Though I'm under the suspicion they don't really know themselves as its only on paper.
Dust will be a faction of its end potential at launch. It will rely on expansion cycles to renew interest biannually just as Eve has survived. The long term goals are much shorter in Dust, because they will be cycling new and renewing older players with the aurum likely quarterly with special packs. As its free to play, its a lot easier to pull them back into the money market without account deals and buddy programs. It's not very hard, look at how many itch for a painted catalyst in GTCs. Rattle the key-chain for attention then sell them a painted tank. Dust will likely survive just fine on its own, and best case scenario for Eve is people subscribing for easier isk for their dust character giving us more people to steal from, oh and some system bonuses a minority will benefit from.

I know how dust plays having played it all I can say is its OK, and the game play is kinda boring because there nothing more to it now than playing a bf3 match.

But at least behind dust ccp is saying playing matches at some point will have more meaning than some shiny stats.

And thats a truly important part of dust.

No, you should put it down as "Poster agrees that OP has created a totally useless thread that has 0 content or interesting things in it what so ever".

And that comes from a massive Red vs Blue fan.

Also I happen to agree with that poster: Your thread is terrible, so it's not really possible to soil it more then you did when you created it.
