Barge ganking, Still possible?

With the recent changes to barge hit points is it still possible to solo kill a mackinaw in a destroyer, say a catalyst or thrasher?

If so, what fits have you found that work nicely?

What flavor of Mackinaw? The <= 2 MLU kind that actually uses the mid slots? Or do you mean the 3 MLU kind that should have been made to explode when you gently place kittens on it?

I have been under the assumption that successful solo-dessy-based mackinaw suicide-ganking requires some stars to align for wrecking shots.

Hulks are still as squishy if they fit no tank. Macks cannot be profitably ganked but will die easily enough to two t2 fitted catalysts if they fit no tank down in 0.5 space.

I believe it is still possible if they don't use any tank at all, including rigs, but it does require a fully trained T2 fit, not a cheap fit with barely T2 guns from what I know.
If they tank it even with just rigs, not possible solo from what I know.

I don't gank, so I could be wrong, but that's the feedback I've heard.
Hulks are still just as gankable and I still see a lot of hulks around.

Thanks Alice Cool

Since to hear that hulks are still vulnerable, along with untanked mack's. It's definitely more for tears and laughs they profit so even having to use two t2 fits is acceptable lol Twisted

Yes.

You need more than a simple catalyst or thrasher but that is not a problem, you can still gank those with a rookie ship in null or low sec without concord bothering you.

Love being able to fit a Damage Control II on my macks, plus keep the 2 mlu's. :D And add a couple of t2 invulnerability fields, you get a nice tank. ;) Plus you add in the shield and armor boosts I have on my boosting Orca... very nice tanks. Pirate

All catalyst fits are cheap.

you'd probably get more ehp and the same yield from a DCIIless skiff.

Not to endorse one party or the other, but you do realize that your pushing for CCP to end up nerfing Catalysts, right? Right or wrong, you know that's what's going to end up happening. So if you're going to gank... at least try to be more creative about it and don't just use the same ship every dang time. That's just asking for trouble and you'll just end up honking off every non-gank Catalyst pilot out there.

Seems silly we should fear using the best ship for the job lest it be nerfed. Like saying "Oh you use a drake to solo c2's? Man you're just asking for trouble, you'd better be more creative than that..."

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

pretty much every barge type ship can be tanked up nicely now, but can is the key word, if you want to see miners explode i guess just scan thier fits. Do rigs show up on a scan? I know i fly tank rigs on my miner ships now and my alts covetor has a shield extender and dcu too so for a cheap t1 barge its reasonably tanky, not sure if a solo catalyst could take it down in the systems i currently mine from. But i know if someone wanted me to explode in highsec, i more or less will, sooner or later lol

Hulk actually gained a slight improvement in hp when they changed stuff, i always had mine tank fitted and it still increased by roughly 2k when they patched them up

It is possible to gank any ship as long as you bring enough ships to gank it with.

you can easily gank miners still, despite what whiners claim, it just isn't profitable anymore ( as it should be) unless they fit weird fits.
