What are you doing to make Eve compatible with the upcoming Oculus Rift?

EDIT: Feel free to post your own ideas about the Oculus Rift and its integration into Eve.

T0rfi is probably begging, but they will most likely do nothing for now.

That's unfortunate. Doesn't CCP want to be innovative?

Well, since it could affect at least 20 players, it's going to be high priority

They will implement game breaking software compatibility that absolutely breaks it by uninstalling its drivers, then installing encrypted drivers, that can never be deleted.

Being innovative isn't always a smart business choice.

Have the devs tried out the prototype? Palmer is spending this next year trying to expand support for more game titles and refine the actual consumer design with feedback from the game developers.

Seeing how this would better complete the feel of being a capsuleer I can see it happening eventually...not a clue when that could be though.

Regardless of how refined it is, there still needs to be a sizable market to warrant such change from CCP. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

How is the supporting the Occulus Rift different to the current nVidia stereo 3D support?

Midway through this interview with PC Gamer he mentions part of how the game is adapted to the Rift. Basically the in-game camera needs to be widened enough to cover the field of view of the device, and outer periphery needs to be digitally reshaped to correct the lens distortion.

Hahahahaha.

You mean despite cross-platform cross-game interaction, free to play FPSMMORPGs for consoles, a company that listens to it's players with it's own player elected council, a working economy that requires an employed economist, a game that is constantly updated to meet the new gaming standards, etc etc.

[Sarcasm] Besides all those things, I guess CCP really isn't that innovative. [/Sarcasm].

It's not like they don't already have enough on their plate.

OH and speaking of the Unity Engine, which CCP is prototyping their Walking-in-Station / EVA experiences with, they've got that covered.

In some distant future these devices may be be small and lightweight enough to merit consideration.

That's the whole point. These smaller and lighter materials are available TODAY, that was already covered in their Kickstarter video.

Would be interesting to see this technology integrated into Eve.

We are aware of the device's existence and, as always, we look into unique and innovative ways to improve our game. Obviously with something as new as the Oculus Rift, there's not much I can tell you besides "We know about it and people are dreaming up stuff we one day hope can be made a reality."

Seems kind of like Sega VR or virtual boy which both failed cuz they make you want to puke.

I dunno though didn't really read about this device since I don't really care much about it.
