I find the only way to play now is in intervals.

I'm '05 and do my share of shitposting but the truth is I 'only' have 60 mill or so SP. You figure out in time that more SP isn't really increasing your chances. It isn't worth it to stay subscribed just to SP up an account and I am down to 4-6 months a year now. The rest of the time I am playing something else.

The predictability becomes negativity and it becomes a chore to play. When that happens, I bail for 3 or 4 months.

Yes. Is that instacane going to blow me up and ruin my day?

For quite a while, it's no.

You either get insta-popped at a gate camp or you can spend many hours in low sec up to a point where it almost feels like high sec.

But there's nothing inbetween.

Yes there is, you just haven't found it yet. Try FW or RvB for some good PvP times.

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

Self-confessed carebare here. Sometimes I like to explore low sec for a change of pace but meh, it seems to be an all-or-nothing proposition. You either get insta-popped at a gate camp or you can spend many hours in low sec up to a point where it almost feels like high sec.

But there's nothing inbetween. No close calls. No brushes with death. I thought about solo PVP but I get the feeling it'll be the same thing - hours upon hours spent looking for viable targets, just to get insta-popped by a gate camping blob.

I heard about RvB but that seems kinda lame.

I'm thinking of training up exploration and doing cloaky. ninja stuff in WH or null sec. Is this viable or am I wasting my time?

You will see more PvP in RvB in one day than you'll see in null or low in a month and you wont have to go looking for it either, just undock.

Losec never feels like Hisec; not in my opinion. Every entry in Local is another person potentially trying to kill you, and when nobody is in Local, you are constantly watching for someone to enter Local. Hisec, you don't even bother paying attention; partially because there are so many players, and partially because attacking people is subject to Concord.

It's not that I feel safe in Hisec, just that I feel I don't constantly have to watch my back, and that it is rather pointless doing so given the number of players and possible ganks. You really don't know which of the Neutrals or Outlaws is out to get you usually, where in Losec, pretty well everyone is.

If you have no close calls, you aren't doing much. You're minimizing risk to the point of almost entirely eliminating it in Losec, or you are flying in solo without the ability to evade and getting ganked by your first example. The second example is more likely to end well for you, even if it tends to involve little actual excitement.

Nullsec is much harder to travel in without risk of course, as there is much more that can be done there to catch you and pod you. Evasion fits don't work half as well there as they do in Losec. Gate camping also usually happens on the borders to Highsec in those areas that are frequented by travelers and pirates. If there is no gate camp then there probably isn't anything interesting either.

RvB? Depends what you consider lame. If you want to experience PvP and fleet, and maybe make some contacts, it is probably a good way to go.

Ninja stuff? If you mean looting sleepers in WHs, then I have to advise against it, especially if you are trying to do it with the players killing the sleepers present, which they will almost certainly be. A Cov Ops is not going to kill Sleepers unless it happens to be a Tech 3, and then you are taking a fairly significant risk.

Cov Ops isn't likely to kill anything in Losec either, unless it happens to be a Stealth Bomber, and then.. I suppose it depends on which SB and your fit and skills.

Exploration is another thing. Most of this stuff is best done with Tech 3s outside of Hisec. Covert Ops and Stealth Bombers just don't have any great capability when it comes to killing anything and fitting for exploration. Even Combat fit, they are relatively useless aside from the SBs, and those are useful only in specific circumstances.

Even Ninja salvaging in Hisec is done with a scanning ship and swap to cheap disposable frigate for salvaging. That's got to tell you something about the capability of Cov Ops right there. At best, they can take minor Mag and Radar sites up to a certain point. At worst, they are absolutely useless for anything but hiding and scanning.

I find that the number of "close brushes with death" increased massively as I became more experienced in pvp.

If you are anything like me then there are a lot of situations which you curently regard as "instant death" that you could probably survive if you had some more experience.
And eventually (as you grow more experienced and confident) some of these "instant death" situations might even lead to amazing kills.

No not-believing!

You actually have to try in order to succeed. Something I see a lot in newer players (and which I occasionally suffer from myself) is that they give up or only make half-hearted efforts once they realize that they are caught in a bad situation.

Guess what? most of your enemies are just as bad at this game as you are. They make terrible mistakes all the time and if you keep your calm and never stop believing (until you are back in your medical station) you will be able to survive many bad situations by capitalizing on your enemies' mistakes.

If you catch yourself or someone you play with going "f*** this, I'm dead" while their ship has still one hitpoint of structure left, then give them a smack on the head and tell them "No Not Believing!".

Solo PvP is dead.

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

I would have to say no since 99% of people I considered "space friends" have stopped playing for various reasons and I'm too irritable/bitter(vet) to put the effort into making new friends. One just has to look in a random direction and be underwhelmed by what is on offer.

I find myself getting excited about plans to do something only to go "wtf this **** is pathetic" once I put the plans into action. This just highlights what a terrible terrible game eve is for solo Lol

Trading is still entertaining I guess. And forums Big smile
